AWA OVERPOWER, September 30, 2007, St. Paul, MN, Xcel Energy Center
(We see the AWA Logo flash on the screen and then fade out. We're staring at a brick wall with no color at all. Suddenly a missle comes into view and hits the wall, exploding into a mist of brick and concrete. On the other side of this wall, we see a war going on. Two opposing factions are fighting tooth and nail for a flag sitting on the top of a hill. On the flag we see the AWA logo.)
"For a time, war was all we knew. While the enemy would slow down after their classic encounter, we would push our forces forward."
(We see some mortar shells explode in the distance. Men are dropping left and right from bullet wounds, grenades, and shrapnel.)
"As we went into overdrive, they backpedalled. While we pushed forward, they retreated."
(The sounds and screams of men dying are heard in the background. Gunfire is loud, helicopters are now on the move. Tanks are seen in the distance.)
"The time is now! Our forces are strong and their men are weak. We will back them into a corner and we will OVERPOWER!"
(The camera pans to the left to the brick wall once more and we see a huge white blotch on the wall. A stencil falls away, revealing to us the Overpower Logo.)
(We cut into the Xcel Energy Center and we see a huge fireworks display almost in the mood and remiscient of the war we saw on the screen. Volleys of fireworks being tossed back and forth from the stage to the ring. The stage is dressed with OVERPOWER as huge letters, similar to Shock, and the second "O" - the one in POWER - is used as the entranceway for the wrestlers. We cut to ringside.)
HS: "Welcome everyone to Overpower! We're coming to you live from St. Paul, Minnesota in the Xcel Energy Center! I'm Herb Summers and joining me as always is Frank Jackson!"
FJ: "Oh boy! I can't wait for things to start tonight!"
HS: "This being Minnesota, this is Brian Stevens country."
FJ: "This is Brian Stevens' country! Remember that."
HS: "Anyway, the World title's on the line tonight in a ladder match! And after what these two men have put each other through and the streak that Brian Stevens is on, I cannot guess who would win this match tonight."
FJ: "It's a tough one to call, but I'd have to go with the Champ on this one. But, let's not forget the wedding of Onslaught and Cosma Galaktika! That should be a good one."
HS: "You're telling me! And speaking of Cosma, her associate, Low, will be defending his United States Championship tonight in a barbed wire match against Logan Alexander!"
FJ: "That should be a classic!"
HS: "And- Wait, I'm getting word that something's happening backstage!"
(The crowd boos as Dai Xie stands backstage on the camera frame. He is dressed in his wrestling gear and he has his bokken resting across his shoulders, his hands pulling down on either side of it. Larry Porter is standing across from him with an amused look on his face.)
LP: "Dai Xie, first off, I'd like to wish you luck in your match against the self-proclaimed greatest Cruiserweight in the AWA, Jason Storm, and a fresh face, a debuting JC Mayne."
(Dax nods.)
LP: "Dax, when you first came to the AWA, you expected to face Spike Alexander in a one-on-one competition at Classic after several comments he made concerning your race, culture, and talent. However, Spike pulled out of his match and left the AWA soon after. Then tonight, you expected to face Jack Thompson, a man who treated you the same way that Spike did, in a Flag match. However, he too pulled out, and took a break from the AWA. Now you're facing Jason Storm and JC Mayne, two relatively new cruiserweights around here."
DAX: "Porter, first off, I think that this goes to show how much of a threat I am to the AWA and how much impact I've already made in American wrestling."
(The crowd responds with a chorus of boos.)
DAX: "Ya see, Porter, I've been working day in and day out to make myself THE biggest name in the sport of professional wrestling and I told everybody that I was going to change the face of it and I think I've done a damned good job of that thus far. My opponents in the past? They've up and left because they saw how I get it done in the ring. They see that I've never been pinned by a true American and that intimidates them. I, Porter, am making my way to the top, and I don't get the respect I deserve because I'm something different. And God knows how much you Americans hate to see something that's not the norm."
(The crowd boos again. The camera pans to the live audience as we see signs reading "U-S-A" and American flags shooting up into the air. Dax just scoffs.)
DAX: "Tonight, I'm going to show Storm why he's a joke when he steps foot between the AWA ring ropes. Tonight, I'm going to send JC right out of the 'Mayne Event' and right onto the 'Mayne flight' in coach back to California or wherever the hell he came from. I'm sick of being stuck in matches with people I don't care about because everyone is afraid to get in the ring with me. Damnit, I need a real challenge, and I need one immediately."
LP: "You don't consider people like the Legendary Low, and former World champion Jeff Christianson to be challenges?"
DAX: "Hey, hey, hey, Porter, listen. Low got lucky. Jeff Christianson got beat because he couldn't handle a little stick to his back. It's not my fault that the boy couldn't take a bump. Low? All he did was roll me up in the ring. I dominated three quarters of that match and he knows how lucky he is to still be holding on to that U.S. championship. I don't think the AWA has any real threats. Put me against someone new. Give me a match against Logan Alexander. John Williams. Give me what I want and put me against Mark Cross. This is so TWISTED, Porter! Cross bitched and moaned about how sad he was that he wasn't receiving the recognition he deserves. He beat Xtreme with a cheap shot and he's launched into a World title match. I bitch and moan about how I don't get the recognition I deserve and I go out there and I WIN every single week, and WHERE is my main event slot?! How come CROSS gets what he wants by I, DAI XIE, have to beg and plead like the slave that they want me to be, to get mine?! How come Cross gets stuff handed to him on a silver platter and I have to beg to get anything done around here? I'll tell you why: Because the AWA wants its employees and its talent to beg for their jobs. And I'm sick of it. I'm sick of Jason Storm, I'm sick of our President, Travis Gray, and I'm sick of you, Porter."
LP: "Me?"
DAX: "Yes, you, you son of a bitch. You're sitting here with your..."
(Dax grabs Porter's tie and rips it off. Porter hunches over, rubbing his neck.)
DAX: "Little tie and your..."
(Dax violently runs his knuckles over Porter's head, sending his hair any which way on his head.)
DAX: "Fruity little haircut. And you're probably getting paid just as much or more than me, even though you suck. I'm sick of it. I DEMAND something new from the AWA. I crave it."
(Dax shoves Porter to the ground and walks off of camera, seething.)
HS: "We are now getting ready for the Rawstarr vs Scott Declan vs Xtreme match up.
FJ: "Tired."
(Scott Declan and Xtreme are already waiting in the ring. "Coming" hits the PA system as Rawstarr
is seen being carried by six people while he sits on his throne. They come down to the ring as
Rawstarr looks at the fans and then sticks his nose up in the air as if he was saying he was to good
for them. They stop in front of the ring as Rawstarr stand up and slides into the ring.)
HS: "A flashy entrance by Rawstarr."
FJ: "Still tired."
(Rawstarr stands in one corner as the other two wrestlers, Declan and Xtreme stand in two other
corners. The ref then calls for the bell and this match is underway. All three men meet in the middle
of the ring and start talking trash. Rawstarr quickly grabs Xtreme and Scott by the head and bashes
their heads into one another.)
HS: "Meeting of the minds."
FJ: "Are any of them bleeding?"
(Xtreme and Scott are both dazed as Rawstarr figures out which one he should take on. He runs over
to Xtreme who is against the ropes shaking off the effects of the move and clotheslines him out
of the ring. Rawstarr quickly turns his attention back on Scott who meets Rawstarr with rights and
lefts. Scott nails Rawstarr with a toe kick to the midesection and hits Rawstarr with a quick DDT.)
HS: "Stopping the advantage Rawstarr had over him."
FJ: "So tired...I want blood."
(While Rawstarr is down Xtreme slides back into the ring to face off with Scott. Xtreme and Scott
battle in the middle of the ring back and forth with rights and lefts. Finally Xtreme hits Scott with a
kick and runs to the ropes whie Scott is doubled in pain. Xtreme comes back and hits a big time
knee to the face of Declan.)
HS: "Big time knee to the face."
FJ: "I hope his nose is broken!"
HS: "You are violent tonight."
(Rawstarr is now back to his feet and stalks Xtreme who has his back turned on him. Rawstarr sneaks
up behind him and grabs him in a chicken wing and then side steps him face first into the mat.)
FJ: "Hey, he stole Draven's Rawness to the Max move that Draven uses as a dedication to The
Blueprint."
HS: "Its also a move dedicated to Rawstarr."
(Rawstarr goes for the cover but only gets a 2. Rawstarr picks up Xtreme and tosses him into one
of the turnbuckles. He then whips Declan who has now returned to his feet into the buckle that
Xtreme went into. Rawstarr gets fired up and rusn torwards both of them with a clothesline. Declan
at the last mintute moves and Xtreme is hit with the clothesline that sends him over the turnbuckle
and onto the steel steps below.)
HS: "Oh my god! Rawstarr clotheslined him so hard that he went over the turnbuckle and onto the
steel steps."
FJ: "This is were the crowd usually starts chanting three letters that stand for extreme."
(Rawstarr turns around to face Declan after he saw the collison of Xtreme. Declan kicks Rawstarr
in the gut and pulls his head in between his legs setting up for the Redemption. Rawstarr quickly
powers out of it and hits Declan with a enzuguri. Declan is dazed and on his feet as Rawstarr sets
him up for one of his moves. Rawstarr lifts up Declan and hits the Raw Plunge. Rawstarr goes for the
cover and gets the 3.)
HS: "Rawstarr picks up a very impressive win here."
FJ: "Does that mean we get to go to the more violent matches?"
(COMMERCIAL BREAK.)
HS: "It's now time for a triple threat match featuring Jason Storm, Dai Xie, and JC Mayne."
FJ: "This will hopefully live up to the standards I've set for the match."
HS: "Which are?"
FJ: "Eh? I'm unsure. I'll decide that after they wrestle."
(JC Mayne is already in the ring.)
HS: "We have one wrestler already in the ring."
FJ: "He's looking to get the jump on his opponents. By my cue cards, he was scheduled to be out third."
HS: "He's a bright star. We really don't know too much about him."
FJ: "But we'll find a lot about him within the next fifteen or twenty minutes. We'll see if he can hang with a couple of the younger guys in the AWA."
HS: "I'm quite sure he can, or he wouldn't have signed the contract."
(The lights go out, but the crowd knows who is coming. 'Biggest and the Best' begins to play, confirming their fears and signaling their jeers.)
nobody is perfect but I'm pretty fucking close, and I'm here to give you all a heavy heavenly dose. I think you better listen 'cause I know who you are, and I think that you should treat me like a superstar!
(Sparks begin to exit the stage while the fans continue to boo.)
because I'm more than just a human I'm the gift to all of you, and I'm here to make sure that my message gets through. I wonder if you're really all as dumb as you look, or are you smart enough to learn the rules in my book.
(The last shred of doubt has been removed, and the boos rain down whole-heartedly.)
I hope you understand that the knowledge I bring, Puts me in the position of a god or a king, 'Cause I'm blessed with the gift of the magic touch, And I wouldn't say that I'm asking for too much.
(Amidst the booing, the shadow of a figure can now be seen in the sparks. The rest of the arena's darkness, however, leaves all but the closest fans blind to anything else.)
All you have to do is get down on your knees and pray, and I promise you the remedy is on its way, But you can never be like me so don't waste your time, because I reign supreme and my position is divine.
(A huge explosion suddenly blinds the arena, revealing Jason Storm and Maria.)
What's wrong with being self-possessed? Nobody satisfied with being second best. I've got the gift and I know that I'm blessed, and I've got to get it off my chest.
HS: "One of the brightest young stars in the game."
FJ: "If he's smart enough he will stay away from the bright and just pick the stars he attacks."
HS: "Frank, do you have any idea what I'm talking about?"
FJ: "No, just thought I'd disagree with you there."
(Jason allows Maria to walk to the ring ahead of him, rushing into the ring just he can make a show of holding down the ropes for her. Maria dips her head in half-mock gratitude.)
HS: "He's lead by the lovely Maria."
FJ: "I'll say. No disagreement there. But more to come if you stay tuned to the AWA on Pay Per View."
I'm the biggest, the best, better than the rest, better than the rest. I'm the biggest, the best, better than the rest, better than the rest. I'm the biggest, the best, better than the rest, better than the rest. I'm the biggest, the best, better than the rest, better than the rest.
HS: "This kid awaits his opponent."
FJ: "A lot of young talent in the ring. Who will make the most of tonight's appearance?"
HS: "Good question. Only time will tel-"
FJ: "I know it was. That's why asked it."
("Justified" hits the PA system, the sound of the somewhat entrancing moans capturing the attention of the crowd before the beat finally kicks in and a white mist surrounds the top of the ramp, the lights also dimming. The first vocals are spoken and we see the mist clear, Dax kneeling at the top of the ramp. The beat stops and Dax rises to his feet, walking to the ring, looking coldly at the fans to his left and right. The song then continues, breaking into the chorus and Dax hops onto the ring apron. He points his hands to either side of his body and looks into the air, muttering something. He then closes his eyes and a white pyro goes off from all of the turnbuckles. Dax enters the ring, looking coldly at the crowd once again before preparing for combat.)
HS: "Here's Dax. Fresh off a victory over Jeff Christianson two weeks ago."
FJ: "Fresh of f the luckiest night of his career. That won't happen again."
(All three men reach the middle of the ring, and we hear the sound of the bell. We see Dax and Storm get in each other's face. JC throws a punch at both men, who were jawing at each other. They both turn and hit around then or eleven stiff punches to the head of JC Smith, which sent him to the ground, and as he pulls himself up by the ropes, he is clotheslined over the top rope by both men. Dai quickly rolls Storm up, but only grabs a two count. Storm and Dax lock eyes once again.)
HS: "Die tried to still it."
FJ: "They made short work of JC Mayne, but I'm sure he'll be back."
(Storm and Dax lock up. Storm quickly takes him to the ground with a side headlock takedown. We see Storm apply pressure. Not enough, as Dax quickly shifts his legs to Storm's head. Storm nips up, and then nails a standing Moonsault on Dax, which was obviously unexpected. The referee drops down to count. One… Two… Dax barely gets a shoulder up. Storm now applies a chinlock. After a brief struggle, and Dax starting to fight out of it, we see Storm lift him, bring him up, and change the chinlock into a reverse twist of fate. Storm goes for the cover. One… Two… JC Mayne breaks up the pinfall!)
FJ: "ALMOST HAD HIM!"
HS: "It's obviously time for the main event to shine."
(Mayne picks Storm up, and nails a bunch of stiff punches to the head which backs Storm up against the ropes. Mayne Irish whips Storm right into a running lariat by Dax. Dax doesn't stop there, he continues on to Mayne who drops him with a dropkick. Both men get up, only for Mayne to attempt a double clothesline. Both men drop down and nail a double drop toe hold. Dax however dropkicks Storm back down to the ground.)
HS: "Dax is trying to get back on the advantage."
FJ: "It's amazing how the Mayne event is doing. Better than I thought."
(Mayne quickly grabs the legs of Dax, and trips him. He floats over for a bridge pin. One… Two… Dax kicks out, and Storm tries an elbow, which Mayne rolls out of the way from. Mayne counters with a spear which sends Dax down. Storm is back on his feet waiting for Mayne. As Mayne reaches his feet, Storm throws a punch, Mayne catches it and nails the MAYNE Effect!)
HS: "What a counter! Trapping Suplex"
FJ: "IT COULD BE OVER!"
(Dax however, rolls up a Mayne who stood up to celebrate for a moment. One… Two… kickout. However, Dax flies right onto Storm. The referee counts. One… Two… Storm barely gets a shoulder up. Dax immediately hits a high knee on Mayne. Dax picks Mayne up, and connects with an arm drag, which he quickly turns into an arm bar. We now see him break the arm bar as Storm begins to get up, and he drops several elbows on Mayne's arm. Finally he and Storm meet face to face. They begin to trade blows. Storm wins, and Irish whips Dax to the ropes. Dax ducks under a clothesline and jumps on the middle rope. As storm turns around, he is nailed with a hurricanrana. Dax holds on for the pin. One… Two… JC Mayne breaks it up.)
HS: "OH MY!"
FJ: "Another quick attempt at winning by Dax. He's doing his best to win this match."
(JC quickly picks Dax up, and begins nailing punches with his weakened arm. As he does, Dax throws a wild punch, but JC ducks under. Dax quickly spins around with a mule kick to the stomach which floors Mayne… or at least takes him to his knees. He quickly picks JC up and drops him with a piledriver. After that, he applies a seated Crossface. We hear JC screaming in pain! Dax let's go of the hold as Storm reaches his feet. Dax quickly runs, and jumps to nail a head scissors takedown on Storm, who's fast to his feet. Dax now attempts the same move, as Storm tries to block, we see Dax complete the De Ja Vu with a DDT. Mayne is back to his feet. Dax quickly springboards off the top rope and nails a leg lariat. He picks Mayne up, and nails a jawbreaker. That hangs Mayne now over the top rope as Dax approaches behind him. Dax rolls him up and sticks his feet on the ropes, only for a two count.)
FJ: "Dax is now in control. Welcome to the AWA, JC."
HS: "Storm is regaining his bearings. Dax better watch out for him."
(Dax now runs at Storm, spins around and grabs his neck for a Flashback. Dax covers, but once again only grabs a two count. He picks Storm up, and throws a punch. Once again Storm counters, Dax grabs his waist and German suplex's him. We see a bridge applied. Dax only grabs a two as JC Mayne tries to drop an elbow. We see Dax move, and JC immediate grabs his arm. However as JC bounces back off the mat. We see Dax grab him, and nail a belly to belly suplex, planting him in the middle of the ring. Dax floats over for a pin. One… two… Storm barely makes the save. Dax pulls both men to their feet.)
FJ: "This kid is talented… but he's a fluke. He might be able to beat these two, but he couldn't defeat Christianson in a million years."
HS: "I wouldn't say that. Everyone beats Christianson these days. Dax is on the fast track to the top with a win tonight."
(Both men surprise Dax and nail a couple of punches. The Irish whip him and nail a double flap jack. We now see Storm turn on Mayne and nail an armdrag. He quickly turns it into a cross armbreaker. We hear Mayne scream in pain. Dax jumps on Storm for the cover. One… Two… and Storm breaks his hold and the pin attempt. He and Dax are back on their feet. He charges Dax, who back body drops him over the ropes. We see Dax jump on Mayne for a pin. Meanwhile, Storm has grabbed the top rope and skinned the cat. He seems to have hurt his knee as Mayne kicks out. Dax applies the Anaconda Vice.)
HS: "IT's OVER!"
FJ: "It will be soon if Storm can't recover. It seems he's hurt his knee."
HS: "You seem to be right Frank."
FJ: "I know I am."
(Storm finally drops an elbow on Dax just as Mayne began to tap out. The referee signals the match is still on. Storm immediately lays the boots on Dax. Finally, he picks Dax up and nails the Future is now, otherwise known as the side effect. He covers Dax, but only grabs a two count. He immediately crawls over to Mayne for a pinfall. One… Two… Mayne barely gets a kickout. It took everything Mayne had. Storm quickly applies a side arm bar. As Dax gets up, Storm let's go and nails a huge high knee, which sends Dax crashing into the ropes. As Dax regains his bearings… and makes his to his feet, we see Storm stand up and nail his version of the RKO names the Sudden Revolution. We see Dax bounce off the mat and roll into the ropes. Storm then walks over to Mayne, as he's getting up, and applies the TNA. We hear a lot of pain as JC Mayne finally taps out. Dax lies on the ground just watching the end of the match.)
FJ: "JASON STORM SHOCKS THE WORLD!"
HS: "At no point, did Jason Storm seem to be in full control of the match, except at the beginning, and that was questionable. That's why this kid will become one of the best the AWA has ever had."
FJ: "I can't say that… but he was damn good tonight. Who knows what the future holds."
HS: "Hopefully our immediate future holds a lot of excellent action just like this match."
(COMMERCIAL BREAK.)
(The arena lights dim as the entrance movie begins. D-R-A-G-O-N flashes up on the screen one letter at a time, followed by the launching of a burst of red fireworks. Mark appears on the top of the ramp holding a bottle of water. He salutes the crowd on both sides of the arena before making his way down the ramp, throwing punches and loosening up. He slides into the ring, taking in several sips of water to take in fluid before placing it into the corner of the ring.)
(The lights go out. After about five seconds we see a big DW appear on the Ameritron. The fans also begin to boo on the sight of the big DW. Then, the masterful lyrics of "Kingdom Come" blares over the PA. We see pyro going off from around the arena. Finally red pyro shoots up from the stage, and the lights are back on. We see Jeff Christianson standing there looking directly at the ring, with the crowd still booing him. We notice that he not only has a black towel on his head but, Standing alongside him is Paige Christianson. She looks around the arena, and they head down towards the ring. Paige walks up the stairs first, with Jeff following. They walk to the side part of the edge of the ring. Jeff Christianson now spins around and grabs the ropes in a pose for pictures. The crowd takes the pictures while Paige sits on the middle of the rope, holding it for Jeff. Jeff now steps into the ring. He has a cocky smile on his face as Paige enters the ring.)
FJ: "Both men eager to settle up Herb."+
HS: "Obviously."
(Cross charges in with a Running Elbow and is caught in a Hip Toss from DW; Cross rolls out smartly coming back to his vertical base and locks up with Christianson, a Side headlock from Cross bring the 6-4 Christianson down a bit and Cross nails a few Closed Fists into his forehead before whipping him to the ropes; DW come back and ducks the clothesline and rebounds into Cross with Running Knee Lift that brings both men down to the canvas; it's Cross that starts for his feet first but Jeff Christianson grapples with Cross and the whole thing turns into a school yard brawl with referee Stu Abbott stepping to break the two men up and only calling the match to restart once both men have stepped back into opposite corners.)
(It is Jeff's turn to open up on the restart by striking out with Punches, Punches and Kicks MMA style that force Cross backwards; Cross suddenly draws the line and slams back into DW with a combination Palm Thrust, Chop Block, Kidney Punch; An Enzugiri Kick from Cross finds only air, Dark Warrior ducked and comes up behind the off balanced Mark Cross and hooks in under Crosses arms for a Full Nelson, lifts him for the Slam and the first pin of the match.)
FJ: " Could be all over right now!?"
(Jeff Christianson gets a respectable two-count but Cross shunts free of the canvas.)
HS: "It was never going to be that easy, even for the Dark warrior."
(Jeff brings Mark Cross to his feet but takes and Elbow to his Gut, a second and then a third from Cross who hits the ropes colliding with a Flying Elbow to Dark Warrior; Cross hooks around the fallen Christianson and starts to work the Triangle Choke in Christianson; Stu Abbott checks for the illegal choke but doesn't signal for anything and the two wrestles continue to struggle for position; Mark Cross shows his frustration of being denied the hold and slams his heel down across DW's mid section before releasing the triangle choke; DW gets to his knees but cannot seem to catch his breath from the blow; Mark Cross stagger free and circles then moves in on DW; Mark faces a bent-over Jeff Christianson and double-under hooks the arms; Cross lifts Christianson from the canvas but the larger, heavier man needs some adjustment and Christianson is able to break one arm free and reverse the hold on the other to pull Cross through Russian Leg Sweep and again Dark Warrior goes for the pin and again he only gets the consolatory two-count as Cross powers out of the pin.)
FJ: "Christianson is denied another one that has to be a blow to is morale?"
(Christianson pulls Mark up from the mat and lock him in Belly –to-Belly and takes a Headbutt from Cross, a second convinces Christianson to let Cross go.)
(A combination of punches from Cross has Christianson against the ropes and the a Whip sends him across the ring to the ropes; Cross gets basic and brings Christianson down via a Clothesline; Cross climbs the post and stalks the rising Christianson before launching into a Missile Drop Kick.)
(Mark Cross goes for the pin and gets a near three-count but is denied by Christianson who gets a shoulder free of the mat; Cross gets up then immediately Drops and Elbow on the prone Christianson; Dark Warrior tries to roll away but Cross corners him and Stomps him into a corner and ignores the ref as he uses the ropes to add pressure to each blow; Cross props Christianson up in the corner and continue his relentless attack on Dark Warrior a set of Kidney Punches that are punctuated by a stiff Forearm Smashes to his face; Cross pulls Christianson out from the corner just enough to drop him in an Inverted Atomic Drop then rolls him for pin; Christianson mages to grab a rope before the referee counts 'Three!")
(Mark Cross stands with his hands raised thinking that he has the victory but the referee has not a hit the mat and points to Christianson's foot on the rope.)
(It take Mark Cross a moment to realize what has happens, by the time he turns back on his opponent Christianson has gotten up from the mat and is staring Cross down; The two lock up again.)
(Cross trades a pair of Forearm Smashes for a set of Knife Edge Chops from Christianson; the two break and Christianson strikes Kicks to the knees of Mark Cross who nearly buckles; Christianson presses the attack and hits another Running Knee Lift that thrusts Cross back into the corner, Christianson sizes up Crops and Charge him only to get Crosses boot in hi face. Cross climbs the post and Christianson is close behind him and the two trade blows up on the second rope; Christianson is able to wrestle Cross into a Full Nelson and the fans at ringside cheer in anticipation of the Dark warriors 'Full Effect.')
HS: "This is bad, very bad for Cross and I don't think there is anyway out of this without the hurt!?"
(Just as Cross is lifted he instinctively hooks a leg around Christianson's thigh prevent the full lift and pulls Christianson off balance; Christianson twists badly as his knee is suddenly caught in the bracket where the top rope is secured to the post and the pain shoots through face as the leg crumbles like one of the twin towers and both he and Cross drop out of the ring; both men hit the steel steps badly with Cross crumpling head over heels down the steps themselves and landing like a rag doll; Christianson impacts the tops so hard he bounces and flips over striking the mats with the back of his head. The referee starts the count and the fans at the barriers are just shy of being rabid as the count reaches '2!..')
<.p>(at the count of '5!'…' Christianson manages to get a fist full of the apron but cannot hold his weight and falls face first back the mats; at '7! ..' Mark Cross is barely conscious with blood pouring from a gash behind his ear.)
,p>(The count goes through eighth, nine then the referee waves his hand and call s for the bell.)
(The voice of the announcer sounds out over the PA, 'The referee has counted both men out and as a result has called this match a draw!!')
HS: "We have the EMT's coming down but this is has been marked in the blood of both men and if they make it out of hospital I don't think this is over!"
(COMMERCIAL BREAK.)
###########################################
Match 4: Brian Williams vs. Draven Shadows
###########################################
(COMMERCIAL BREAK.)
HS: "And now we've come to a true grudge match! Quade deSade..."
FJ: "Did the AWA a public service by attacking A.C. Smith after Classic in Milan, Italy!"
HS: "Frank, hush. At any rate, rather than having him arrested, Smith opted to face him one-on-one, right here at Overpower, in a Finisher's Only match!"
FJ: "And he'll be humiliated again! Smith's a big dumb oaf who..."
(The arena goes pitch-black, and the darkness speaks.)
"I am the new way to go. I am the way of the future."
(The voice repeats its words as a silhouette rises on the screen; an unseen flame lights an emotionless face, eyes closed, breathless. Her voice then speaks without neither her eyes nor mouth opening.)
"There's a lot of innocent people being crucified."
(The screen above the burns with one name.)
(QUADE DESADE)
(Quade staggers down the ramp towards the ring oblivious to the calls of the people on either side of him.)
FAN #1: "Gutless coward!"
FAN #2: "Moronic jerk!"
FJ: "I LOVE YOU, HAVE MY BABIES!"
HS: "FRANK!!!"
(His face seems a grim freeze of pain; his body marked and scarred from more than just his confinement within the Iron Maiden. Taking the steps slowly he takes a moment as if to catch his breath and then to look back up the ramp to the empty entrance where the Iron Maiden should be standing, Quade stalls for just a moment longer before entering the ring.)
HS: "Quade deSade did what he could to incapacitate A.C. Smith, but he comes face-to-face with him tonight in St. Paul!"
FJ: "He won't for very long. Smith'll be on the mat so much, his eyes'll be in the back of his head!"
(On that note, "Keep on Rockin' in the Free World" begins to play, and the crowd lets out one of the biggest pops of the evening thus far. A.C. Smith comes down the aisle, not having taken his eyes away from the ring for even a split second. He enters the ring, and rather than going to a neutral corner, he walks to where he's chest-to-chest with his nemesis, and engages in a staredown.)
HS: "You can cut the tension with a knife here, folks! A.C. Smith and Quade deSade want to KILL each other!"
(The referee tries to separate them, but fails, and motions for the bell to ring. It does, signaling the start of the bout. Both men circle the ring before finally locking up, as deSade comes away with a hammerlock. Smith reverses it into a snap mare, which breaks the hold. A.C. tries to add in a reverse chinlock, but deSade counters with a jawbreaker before coming off the ropes with a shoulderblock that sends Smith to his knees.)
HS: "A fine technical display to start out, but we knew that this was going to eventually turn into a strength-on-strength encounter!"
FJ: "A.C. Smith has a strength?"
(deSade strikes Smith with pokes to the eyes, but this doesn't sit well with A.C., who responds with a legsweep out of nowhere that knocks the Fiery Cross to the canvas. Both men get to their feet and lock up before Smith comes away with an Irish whip. deSade hits the ropes twice before A.C. catches him in a massive spinebuster. deSade is down on the mat, and Smith takes advantage, stomping him from head to toe!
deSade rolls out of the way of the final stomp, and uses a nearby set of ropes to get to his feet. He shrugs off a series of punches before turning around and landing a few of his own. Smith bends down to clutch his chest in pain, and deSade takes advantage, locking in a side headlock and adding a few more closed-fist punches for good measure. A.C., though, has had enough, and reverses the hold into a hard back suplex!)
HS: "Both men are so determined, and are scratching and clawing as hard as they can thus far!"
FJ: "You mean this is all A.C. Smith has?"
HS: "Frank, could you do me a favor?"
FJ: "No, I will NOT whisper sweet nothings into your ear."
HS: "No, I'd just wish you'd SAY nothing, because THAT would be sweet."
(Both men are on their feet, and deSade comes away with an arm drag. He tries another, but Smith rolls through before turning around and hitting a super-charged lariat that sends Quade clear up in the air before flipping back down to the mat. A few knees to deSade's head follow, as does a front facelock that is turned into a brainbuster. More stomps follow, but deSade counters, grabbing Smith's ankle and applying an anklelock that slowly brings A.C. down to the canvas!)
HS: "deSade's certainly countered, but this isn't one of his finishing moves, so he cannot win the match this way!"
FJ: "Who cares? He's gonna break Smith's ankle, and I LOVE it!"
(So does deSade, apparently, as the sadistic look on his hairless face would indicate. He twists Smith's ankle tighter and tighter, but his look of mad glee turns to shocked horror as Smith inches his way towards the ropes before putting his hand on the bottom one! The crowd cheers as deSade is forced to break the hold, and despite repeated elbows to the leg, it appears Smith is actually coming alive!
Much like deSade earlier, Smith uses the ropes to get to his feet. He's met by a few forearm shots to the head, and is whipped into the opposite set of ropes, but comes off with a massive spear that shakes the ring! He picks deSade up and whips him into the corner, mounting him for a set of punches the crowd counts along with before hitting a surprise monkey flip that sends his opponent to the other side of the ring, where he rolls out of the ring to catch his breath!)
HS: "And Smith has caught a second wind! deSade's in a great deal of pain!"
FJ: "Not nearly as much as me!"
HS: "Really?"
FJ: "I have twenty bucks on him in a bet with one of the guys in the production truck!"
HS: "Groan..."
(deSade attempts to walk off some of the pain, but Smith sneaks up behind him and hits a bulldog onto the arena floor! Smith seizes the moment, grabbing metal stairs near a ringpost. He lifts them up over his head, but deSade is one step ahead, hitting a low blow that forces Smith to drop the stairs and go to a knee in pain! It's Quade's turn to use the stairs, and he does so repeatedly, hitting A.C. over the head numerous times with them before rolling Smith back into the ring.
Back inside, deSade hits several right hands before executing an Irish whip and a drop toe hold. A kneedrop follows, and Smith rolls around on the canvas in pain. Quade picks Smith up and tries to pull off a Russian legsweep, but Smith reverses it into an...)
HS: "ACE CRUSHER! NOBODY saw it coming, and now both men are down!"
FJ: "Get up, Quade, get up!"
(The referee starts a ten-count. At five, both men start to stir, and by seven, Smith is on his stomach. The count stops, and when both men get to their feet, they lock up. A.C. comes away with a quick hip toss. deSade bounces up and counters with a dropkick that sends his opponent into the corner. He tries to mount Smith and throw punches, but A.C. hits an atomic drop as a counter. As deSade grabs his nether regions in pain and jumps around, Smith goes behind and applies a dragon sleeper. He hits three forearms to the chest, a la his "Police Lineup" move, but instead of coming down with the elbow, Smith his an inverted slingshot suplex off the ropes!
Wasting no time, Smith whips deSade into the ropes after picking him up off the mat and catches him with a modified body slam that sends deSade into the mat, and hard!)
HS: "Big Apple Slam! That's definitely a finisher!"
FJ: "Kick out, Quade!"
(Referee Stu Abbot is there to make the count...
ONE...
TWO...
THR--)
HS: "No!"
FJ: "YES!!!"
HS: "Quade deSade kicked out, even after that tremendous onslaught by the Big Apple Asskicker, A.C. Smith!"
(Smith is mildly shocked as Abbot holds up two fingers for all to see. He shakes his head and picks deSade up off the mat, but once again, Quade goes low. Smith bends down, and deSade hits a quick DDT to regain control of the bout. He goes back to an anklelock, but Smith expected it and wiggles out. Stomps onto Smith follow, as do several swift kicks to the ribs and face of the No Limits champ.
deSade points over to a turnbuckle, signifying he's going for the Crucifier!)
HS: "This could be it for Smith! deSade's going to go for the Crucifier!"
FJ: "As he should. CRUSH HIS ARMS LIKE GRAPES!"
(deSade whips Smith into the turnbuckle, but decides to try to add an avalanche for good measure. A.C. sees this coming, though, and rolls out of the way, countering with a vicious release German suplex as the crowd goes wild! Smith keeps the pressure on this time, hitting a backbreaker and several clean shots to deSade's face! Now it's A.C. in control, and HE signals to the crowd!)
FJ: "No...NO!"
HS: "A.C. Smith is going for the Big Apple Asskicker! And this crowd is LOVING it!"
(Smith whips deSade into the ropes, catching him with a gorilla press slam. He comes off the ropes and adds a huge splash for good measure!)
FJ: "This can't be!"
HS: "It is! There's the cover!...
ONE...
TWO...
THREE!!!"
(The crowd continues to go crazy as Smith's hand is raised in victory. "Keep on Rockin' in the Free World" plays once again as A.C.'s hand is raised in victory. Rather than enjoy his victory, though, Smith motions towards the ring announcer, who promptly hands over his microphone.)
HS: "Well, A.C. Smith has picked up the win over Quade deSade, and now it looks like he's got something more on his mind!"
FJ: "Sweet Jesus, take me now."
A.C.: "OK, deSade. I've defeated you...again. I've CRUSHED you...again. Now, after almost two years of trying to beat me and failing miserably, I want to rid myself of you. I should never have to prove my superiority over you again. You were the first obstacle I faced in my AWA career, and now, you're just a persistent gnat I'm swatting away with ease."
(The crowd cheers as deSade's face goes from exhaustion to anger.)
A.C.: "That said, there's one thing you really haven't mentioned yet, and it's an answer that, after tonight, I think I deserve.
Quade, why would you do what you did?"
(Before deSade can respond, though, the arena goes pitch-black.)
HS: "Fans, we seem to be having some technical difficulties..."
FJ: "There IS a God!"
(Suddenly, "Lift me Up," by Moby, begins to play. Some cheering is heard as the lights come back on and Mark Cross begins to make his way down to ringside. His gait seems different than his past entrances, as he's walking to the ring with undying focus.)
HS: "Well now, what is Mark Cross doing here?"
FJ: "Good question. Now I've gotta deal with HIM, too?!"
HS: "FRANK!!!"
(Cross slides into the ring under the bottom rope, and stands between Smith and deSade. Quade uses this opportunity to exit the ring as Smith willingly hands over the microphone.)
MARK: "Today is a day of change in the AWA. A time when one of the big stars in the future of the company reveals something that has become oh-so-clear to him over recent weeks. I hate to break up your little speech here Mr. Smith, but I think you realise as well as anyone that nice guys finish last in the wrestling world. Putting every single human effort into your training and laying it all on the line in the ring just isn't enough."
(Mark gives it a few seconds for his words to sink in. If his impromtu appearance wasn't enough to make a point, some of the smarter AWA fans may have been putting two and two together.)
MARK: "In wrestling there are always people who will throw a good shot into your nuts when you're close to taking their World title away. There will generally be someone who will talk and talk until you forget how bad they are, and yes there will, every once in a while, be some shameless mercenary that will take money to slap a guy around a bit. Penny dropped for anyone yet?"
(A chorus of boos begin to erupt from around the arena from A.C. Smith fans. In a lot of cases the penny had dropped. In a few, they were just jumping on the bandwagon. At any rate, Smith shows a desire to take the microphone back, but Cross stops him and continues.)
MARK: "I dipped into my pocket and paid for that attack at a very reasonable price I might add. I wanted to keep my head down, work hard and get to the top that way. The big problem though? I'm too competitive. My patience faded as I watched men gain success they didn't deserve. I've seen Brian Fucking Stevens defeat his opponents physically before they even get to the ring to wrestle. I'm sick of playing second fiddle to undeserving men. Cheats, womanisers, immature, whiny little kids..."
FJ: "Like who?"
HS: "Gee, Low, Brian Stevens..."
FJ: "Those fine humanitarians?!"
HS: "Ugh..."
MARK: "The one title holder deserving of his belt though? No Limits title holder A.C. Smith. The one nice guy that crossed the finish line first. He's had it too easy, snatching the belt against an out of sorts Jester who hasn't been seen since. There's been nobody jumping him backstage, or putting him through a TV. It frustrates me in a way. You can even stretch and call it jealousy if you really want. You notice though, he really doesn't like a bit of heat, a bit of conflict.."
(Mark stops to take a sip from the bottle of water he'd carried out with him.)
MARK: "The No Limits belt is the toughest to hold Smith. Every single week you can't figure out what your opponent will pull out of the bag. You don't know how much blood you'll lose or how much pain will be inflicted. When I get into the ring I don't let up. I do whatever it takes to get the match won. In No Limits? I have a hell of a lot more options on my hands. It's nothing personal A.C. but you wound up in the wrong place at the wrong time. The inconsistency, the losing, it stops HERE. When there are no rules. Not even Brian Stevens can match me. Mr. Smith, you have my belt by the way..."
(Cross starts to exit to a rousing chorus of boo's and catcalls, but those boo's quickly turn to cheers as Smith spins Cross around, taking back the microphone and looking straight into Cross's eyes.)
A.C.: "How DARE you? How dare you pay the scum of the earth for the sole reason of taking me out, after MONTHS of presenting an image that people could respect? Furthermore, how dare you come out here and say that the losing's going to stop when you made the biggest mistake of your life, pissing me off?
Cross, you're right. The No Limits Championship is the single hardest belt to defend. But it's also the single hardest belt to win, because the person who won it before you walked through fire to become a champion. Mark Cross, you want me? You got me. Anywhere, anyplace, anytime. I'll prove to you once and for all that there IS a place for honor, integrity, and dignity in the world of professional wrestling.
It takes a real man to uphold those traits. After all this time of presenting yourself as someone decent, you're going back on your words for gold. You're no man. You're a yellow-bellied coward, and when the time comes, you're going to be destroyed."
(Smith slams the microphone down onto the canvas and exits the ring to an extended cascade of cheers.)
(COMMERCIAL BREAK.)
(The house lights dim as white lights strobe as the beginning of "Am I Evil?" by Diamond Head blares throughout the arena. After a few seconds, red begins to strobe as NHL walks out from the back curtain. As he comes out through the curtain he spits out water from his mouth and he stands under the red strobe, leaving a hideously evil look about his face. A few seconds later, Henry starts towards the ring. As NHL slowly makes his way to the ring, he ignores the reactions from the crowd as he walks closer and closer to his destination. Henry pauses before he ascends the ring steps and heads into the ring through the top and middle ropes. Henry stands on the bottom rope, pointing to the crowd and cursing the people at ringside. Henry stops jeering and closes his eyes, tipping his head up as if looking at the rafters. After a moment, he opens his eyes, takes in a deep breath, and steps down.)
HS: "This man has had a monkey on his back for quite some time now. His name is Evan Heir and for the past month, he has been inside the head of Sir Henry."
FJ: "Sir Henry has every right to be upset at this kid, Herb. Evan Heir is a menace. You know it and these fans know it. It's sickening that they support him."
HS: "And speaking of our Cruiserweight champ…!"
(A whirring sound is heard for about five seconds, before the beat begins to play from Kanye West and Daft Punk's "Stronger". Evan Heir walks out from behind the curtains, dressed in his usual black pants and white robe. He throws a few punches at the camera closest to him before proceeding to walk down the ramp, Sienna Harrison walks behind him. Evan jumps onto the apron and Sienna pulls the robe from his body right before Evan enters the ring, falling back against the ropes, sitting on the middle as Sienna climbs the stairs. Sienna climbs into the ring and waves to the crowd, leaning over the top rope while standing on the bottom to blow kisses to the audience. Meanwhile, Evan ascends the turnbuckles, throwing his signature "V" signal into the air.)
(Evan jumps down from the turnbuckles and removes his Cruiserweight championship from around his waist, handing it to the referee. He then runs against the ropes, jogging back and forth around the ring a bit to get warmed up as he awaits combat.)
FJ: "What's up with the new pants?"
HS: "FBE? Haha!"
FJ: "This has gone too far. Now he's just mocking Sir Henry."
(The bell rings and the crowd cheers. Evan Heir smirks as he bounces around the ring on his heels, looking at NHL. NHL stands in place for a moment before letting out an uncharacteristic angry battle cry and charges at Heir. Evan's eyes widen and he rolls out of the ring. NHL follows him and begins to chase him around the ring, to the amusement of the crowd. Evan hops over the steel steps and Henry runs around them. Evan eventually rolls into the ring under the bottom rope again. NHL follows him, but as soon as he gets to his feet, Evan has rebounded off of the nearest ropes and hit him with a Dropkick to the face. Henry falls onto his back and Evan helps him up by his arm. He Irish Whips Henry to the ropes across the ring, but Henry reverses and sends him off of them instead. He comes back and ducks under a Clothesline from Henry. Evan jumps onto the second rope and rebounds off with a Headscissors, delivering a perfect Air Control technique. Henry flips onto his back and Evan goes for a quick pin. 1… 2… No, Henry gets the shoulder up. Evan hops to his feet, casually.)
HS: "This isn't working out well in Henry's favor is it?"
FJ: "Only because Sir Henry isn't used to childish antics."
(Evan paces around in front of Henry and then throws a kick to his shoulder as he gets up. Henry reacts by trying to cover up, but Evan hits his other shoulder with another sharp kick. He jumps up and goes for a Spin Kick, but Henry ducks under him and Evan's leg hits the top rope. Henry takes Evan's other leg out with a stomp and Evan twists and soon falls on his back. Henry catches his breath in the corner and charges Evan when the Cruiserweight Champ gets to his feet. Evan lands hard on his back and his eyes widen as the shock shoots up his spine. NHL mounts Evan and begins to strike at him, but Evan wisely throws his arms over his head. The referee yells at Henry to back off, administering a 5 count. 1… 2... 3… 4… Henry gets off. Evan lowers his arms and smirks up at Henry. Evan hops up to his feet and bounces around the ring a bit more, motioning for NHL to come closer. NHL, the more experienced of the two shakes his head. Heir looks at the crowd for a moment before he charges at Henry. Henry side-steps Heir, but Heir rushes to the corner, grabbing onto the ropes to stop himself. He turns around and hits a stiff kick to the midsection of NHL. NHL clutches his ribs and hunches over. Evan walks up the turnbuckles and flips from the top. He lands the Pickpocket!)
HS: "Wow, I haven't seen that one in a while. Just like that, he has Henry on the ground!"
FJ: "It's because he's shady and he's doing whatever he can to take Sir Henry out of his game. I'm really sick of this, Summers."
(Evan throws his hand up to the crowd, earning a few cheers in the process and goes out to the apron. He slowly begins to ascend to the top turnbuckle. As he gets to the top, NHL gets to his feet as well. He slowly rises up and Evan jumps from the top rope, going for a Diving Cross Body, but NHL ducks down and Evan crashes and burns into the canvas. He bounces onto his back and Henry wastes no time running at him and dropping an elbow across his sternum, grabbing both legs for the pin. 1… 2… Evan gets a shoulder up, but NHL pushes him back down. 1… 2… Another kickout. Another pin attempt. 1… Evan kicks out a third time, though he seems more exhausted. NHL grabs Evan by his hair and scoops him up onto his shoulder before driving him with a hard Scoop Slam to the mat. Evan puts a hand on his lower back and rolls onto his side as NHL measures him. When Evan pulls himself to his feet, NHL takes one long stride, tangles Evan's left leg up with his right and slams him back-first to the canvas with a Russian Leg Sweep. Heir grabs his head in pain and NHL throws his leg over him, pinning both shoulders to the mat for another cover. 1… 2… Evan shoulders out of it. NHL stays on the offense and picks Heir up again. He drags him to the center of the ring and drives him with a Snap Suplex. NHL taunts Evan and goes to the turnbuckles, which earns him a horrid response from the crowd. NHL hops up onto the second rope, standing there for a moment, before he leaps off and hits a flying elbow across the sternum of Heir once again. Sienna looks worried on the outside and yells for Evan to get up.)
HS: "You have to remember that last week, Evan Heir said that he was a crutch for Nathaniel Henry Lee. He said that he made him famous and that he could kick it any time he wanted and send Henry 'to the bottom'."
FJ: "Yeah well Henry's legs must be feeling a lot better now because he is systematically breaking down the Cruiserweight champion."
(NHL has now applied a sleeper hold to Evan Heir. The crowd slowly gets behind him, clapping their hands together rhythmically to get Evan back into the game. Evan seems that he's fading anyway though. The larger wrestler has his arm tightly against Evan's neck and Evan seems to be limp. The referee raises his arm into the air once. It hits the ground and the referee yells out "ONE!" to the timekeeper. NHL screams for the referee to ask him and the ref raises Evan's arm into the air a second time. He lets it drop. It hits the mat. "TWO!" NHL smirks, shaking his knee, eager to beat Evan here. The referee raises Evan's hand a third time. He lets it fall--- but Evan keeps it in the air, slowly coming to and realizing where he is. NHL tries to put more pressure on the hold. Evan drives his elbow back a few times, hitting NHL's arm. NHL loosens the hold and tries to steady himself as Heir gets up, but Heir hits him with a few more quick punches to the side. He tries to run to the ropes when NHL's hold is broken, but NHL grabs Evan's hair and slams him right back to the mat. Heir puts a hand to his head in pain on the mat and NHL climbs up to the second turnbuckle. He jumps off and goes for a knee drop to the throat, but Evan rolls out of the way. NHL clutches his knee, but gets to his feet, hopping up on one leg for a moment. Evan is on his feet now and has the wherewithal to grab NHL in a standing amateur-style double-leg takedown. The crowd roars as they see what's coming. Evan crosses his legs with NHL's and starts to turn him over for the Sharpshooter, but he has trouble getting him onto his stomach as NHL resists. NHL grabs Evan's leg and cries out, trying to resist being turned over. He gets to the ropes before Heir can even turn him over. The crowd boos in disapproval. Evan lets go of his legs and backs up to the center of the ring. NHL gets up and Heir charges at him for a calf kick, but NHL pulls down the top rope. Heir lands hard on the apron. NHL stands up, not aware that Heir had with his hands on the ropes. NHL turns around and Heir launches himself up on the apron and nails a Headscissors from the apron down to the ground!)
HS: "HOLY GOD!"
FJ: "That was so impressive, Herb!"
HS: "About time you admitted tha--!"
FJ: "Only Sir Henry can take a move like that and be in one piece!"
HS: "I… I truly saw that coming."
(The crowd has begun a chant of expletives after the unorthodox move. NHL and Heir lie on the outside motionless for a moment but Heir grabs onto the ring apron and pulls himself up as the referee begins to administer a 10-count. NHL has gotten up as well, though he landed rough on the apron and a small cut has formed on his forehead. He covers up as Evan hammers him with a series of rights and lefts. Evan grabs NHL by his tights and throws him into the ring post. The crowd let's out an "OOOH!" when NHL stumbles and falls to the ground. Heir rolls into the ring to break up the count, but rolls back out. He goes over to NHL and bends down to grab him, but NHL grabs Evan by his pants and forces him down. Evan's jaw hits the barricade. A few fans take the opportunity to pat his back. Evan stands up and sweat flies onto the camera as NHL delivers a hard punch to his jaw. Evan stumbles back and jumps up, hitting a Dropkick that knocks NHL into the apron. Evan rolls into the ring under the bottom rope. He crawls to the center to catch his breath. NHL slides into the ring directly after and quickly hits Evan with a Clothesline from behind. Evan hits the mat face-first and NHL pushes him onto his back for a pin. 1… Kickout by Heir. NHL pounds at Evan's head immediately. Evan covers up again in this match. Instead of waiting for the referee to scold him, NHL climbs off of Evan and stands up, pulling Evan by the hair with him. He walks Evan over to the corner and slams his head into the top turnbuckle before pushing him back-first into the corner. NHL raises one hand into the air, earning boos from the crowd and then slaps it across Evan's chest. Evan holds his chest in pain, but NHL pushes his hands away and then hits a knife-edged chop. Evan drops to his knees and clutches his chest again. NHL drags Evan back to the center of the ring and applies a standing Headscissors. He lifts Evan up onto his shoulders and slams him down with a hard Powerbomb. NHL goes for a pin immediately. 1… 2… And literally a millisecond before the referee can count three, Evan kicks out. The crowd cheers, getting behind him. NHL uncharacteristically screams at the referee.)
HS: "Evan said it earlier--- he said he's in Henry's head and it's showing here tonight! He's not even hitting him and Henry's freaking out."
FJ: "Well, if that little rat was in my life the way he was in Sir Henry's, I'd be mad too. I'd be frustrated. I'd want to beat him just so I can show him up."
HS: "Well, it's working out for Heir."
(NHL stomps violently at Evan's back and neck area. Heir is basically defenseless and after a few seconds, the referee forces Henry away, scolding him once again. NHL shoves the referee out of the way. He turns and points a finger at him, but Evan all of a sudden rolls Henry up. 1… 2… NHL pops out just in time.)
FJ: "HEY! The referee counted fast!"
HS: "Oh, he did no such thing. Shut up, Frank."
(NHL takes Evan down with a fist as soon as he gets up. Heir manages to maintain balance, however and he simply slams NHL with a Spinebuster when he runs at him. NHL holds his back, more shocked than hurt. He gets to his feet. Heir tries to take the bigger opponent down with kicks to his legs. NHL isn't quite big enough to simply shove Evan away, but he's big enough to hit him with a strike to the top of his head and slow him down. Evan flails back and hits the ropes. He bounces back and NHL delivers a Belly to Belly Suplex. Heir hits the turnbuckle corner and gets hung up with his feet on the top rope. NHL slaps his knee and backs to the other corner. He runs at Evan, presumably for a knee-strike to the sternum, but Evan flips upright to a seated position. NHL hits the turnbuckles, getting none of Evan. Evan jumps backwards off of the turnbuckles and hits Henry with an elbow to the face. NHL falls to the mat and Evan slowly gets back up to his feet. He stalks NHL from behind. The crowd cheers as Evan raises his hands out to the side, showing a tribute to a certain wrestler who will go unnamed. NHL turns around when he gets up and walks into a kick to the midsection. Heir then goes for a Twist of Fate, but he's shoved away--- into the referee. The referee hits the mat and clutches his head. Evan takes notice of this, but only briefly, as NHL is already back on the offense. Evan slams his foot into NHL's jaw, however with the PDA!)
FJ: "That bastard hit the referee!"
HS: "And now he's going for the Million Dollar Shot it seems! But with no referee--- he can't take advantage."
(The crowd cheers as Evan goes up to the top rope. He seems to be going for the Million Dollar Shot, but he narrows his eyes and hops down. He shakes his head, grabs Henry's arm and drags him to the corner. Heir checks the referee again and then rolls out of the ring. He grabs a steel chair and closes it, hopping back onto the apron.)
FJ: "What's he doing?!"
(The crowd begins to roar when Evan climbs to the top turnbuckle. Henry is in the turnbuckle corner adjacent to him. Evan holds the chair above his head and then balances himself for a moment, seeming unsure if what he's going to attempt will work. Evan then leaps from the turnbuckle and across the ring, driving his feet and the chair into Henry's skull with the Street to Street. The chair flips through the ropes and lands out on the ring. Henry slowly falls to his side and Evan lies on the mat motionless. The crowd has begun yet another chant filled with expletives.)
HS: "Henry's skull must be CRUSHED!"
FJ: "This is terrible! The menace is going to steal one!"
(The referee is beginning to stir now. Henry's face is now drenched in blood. Heir pushes NHL onto his back and hooks both of his legs for the pin.)
ONE!
TWO!
THREE!
(The bell rings. Sienna jumps into the ring with the title in hand and holds Evan's arm up in victory. Evan seems very out of it, but allows his arm to be raised anyway. Henry rolls out of the ring and to the floor. The referee raises Evan's other hand before he exits the ring to check on NHL.)
HS: "Well, Evan Heir just defeated Nathaniel Henry Lee."
FJ: "He CHEATED!"
HS: "He took advantage just like Henry would have."
FJ: "THIEF!"
HS: "Hm."
FJ: "MENACE!"
(The celebration ends abruptly. The camera pans over and we see Jason Storm and Maria.)
HS: "Hey, wait a minute!!!"
(The crowd starts to boo as Jason Storm and Maria come down to the ring. Maria looks completely confused, like she has no idea why they were coming down. Jason, though, is all smiles, and the fans can only conclude it is because of Evan Heir's predicament.)
FJ: "Alright! Gloating time; I love these moments!
(Jason walks up to Evan and grabs him by the hair, whispering harshly in his ear before roughly shoving him away. Evan's face undergoes a remarkable metamorphosis: From shock, to disbelief, to blind rage. He slowly makes his way to his feet as Jason backs off all smiles. Evan immediately spins around and lunges himself at NHL.)
HS: "I don't know what Jason said to Evan, but it has him all fired up!!!"
Evan probably not so shockingly dives right after Jason Storm! Storm bounces violently off the barricade, but Heir isn't done by a long-shot! Maria cries out, but that doesn't prevent Evan from putting the boots to Jason. Evan picks up Storm only to violently whip him into the barricade head first! Evan walks over to the time keeper and throws him out of his chair into the crowd, picking up the chair and walking back to Storm and a trying-to-help Maria. Storm gently but firmly pushes her aside as Evan throws the chair right into Jason's face! Jason goes sailing into the lap of a disgusted ring-side fan, Jason's blood splattering all over the ring-side viewer.)
(Evan still isn't done as he grabs Jason's signature Singapore cane from under the ring, raising it up to the delight of the crowd. He winds up and brings it down hard, Crack!. The fans "Ohhh!" With delight, glad to see Jason finally get his. Evan raises his cane again, bringing it hard across Jason's face!)
FJ: "He's a mad-man! Somebody get him off of Storm!"
HS: "Evan Heir was provoked, but this is getting hard to justify!"
(Maria grabs Evan's arm, trying to get him to stop, but Evan shoves her off, and she goes crashing into the steel steps!)
HS: "OH NO!!!"
FJ: "That monster!"
(The crowd goes silent as Maria clutches at the back of her head, crying in pain. Evan's anger is replaced by shock as he brings a hand to his face, realizing just what he had done. He kneels down to place an apologizing hand on her, but Maria draws back, looking back at Evan fearfully. Evan practically jumps back, never once believing that look would have been leveled at him.)
(The fan Jason had bled on gets up, shaking his head at Evan before leaving. But Evan could care less, as he stares at the offending arm that had hurt Maria.)
(Then the silence was broken by laughter.)
HS: "What the? Who's sick enough to find this funny?"
(Apparently, Jason Storm does. He laughs as he lays in his own blood, laughs as he picks himself up, laughs as he walks over to Maria and helps her up. He laughs as he half carries her up the ramp. Perhaps the most worrisome thing about the laugh....)
(...was that it was a laugh of triumph.)
(COMMERCIAL BREAK.)
(We head back over to our Announce Position and see both Frank Jackson and Herb Summers grinning widely.)
HS: "We've enjoyed a very wild Overpower tonight from The X in St. Paul, Minnesota and we thank you all for allowing us into your homes tonight."
FJ: "Absolutely. With out you, the AWA Faithful? Herbie would be handing out BJ's on a street corner for 3 bucks a pop."
(Summers turns and glares Frank. Frank smiles mischievously.)
HS: "On THAT note, we are about to bare witness to what could potentially be the most bizarre wedding in the history of our sport. Tonight, you, and the entire galaxy, have all been cordially invited to the marriage of Cosma Galaktika and Onslaught."
(We suddenly hear a very proper and very elegant song overtake The X. Our cameras head into the ring and we see that it's been transformed into a makeshift alter. The ring ropes still stand on 3 sides of the ring, but the side facing the Entrance Ramp have been removed. A giant white set of stairs bridge the stage and the ring and, as we notice that, we see a plethora of chairs lining the entire stage. 2 sections with multiple rows. Suddenly, we watch as a skinny white Reverend walks out from the Entrance Stage. He has a Bible in hand and looks very proper. His hair is slicked back and his mustache seems very perfect. He smiles as the AWA Locker Room billows out behind him. Travis Gray is the first out from the back followed by the children of Cosma. Behind them is the single Mother of Onslaught, Ms. Nancy Ottoson. Right after them step Low, Sir Nathaniel Henry Lee GBE, and Richard O. Dickinson III. Not far behind is Lars Fredrickson, El Hefe, Jimmie, Crappy Jack, M-Tank, Ocelot, Disco Duck, Suavio Mega…and then the rest of the Locker Room fills out, much to most of their chagrin. Jeff Christianson and Paige Christianson walk hand in hand. Quade deSade trails behind them while Evan Heir and Sierra Harrison. AC Smith smiles politely as he waves to a few fans. Behind him walks Mark Cross. Then Jason Storm. Maria Clarke. Draven Shadows. Dax Xie. Xtreme. Scott Declan. Prince Rawstarr…and, lastly? The Squasher. The only noticeable people missing from the active AWA Roster are John Williams, Brian Williams and Logan Alexander…no surprise there. A few more legends pop out from the back, all dressed up for the occasion. Some of the names we notice are Bryan Peek, Blackjack, Evan Spire, Colin Baird, and King Chozen. All men seem to be in great shape and seem pleased to be in attendance tonight. From the fans, we hear a sizable "KFC" chant, which brings a smile to Chozen's face as everyone is finally seated.)
HS: "What a turnout, Frank! This wedding has been highly publicized and, by some, criticized and has become quite the talker! Even some legends made it out for the occasion!"
FJ: "Yeah, it's always fun seei…"
(Suddenly, Frank is cut off by the HORRIBLE sounds of "It's Raining Men". The entire Wedding Party looks backwards towards the ramp and out saunters Curiously Bruce the Gay Midget! The fans laugh as he skips and frolics down to the ring. He gets to the front of the seating and grabs a microphone from a stage hand.)
BRUCE: "Yoohoo! Travy!"
(We zoom in on a VERY confused AWA President, the esteemed Travis Gray.)
BRUCE: "Hey hon! It looks like you don't have a date tonight, sugar…so consider lucky! Tonight, Travy? Tonight you're Bruce's date! YAY!!!"
(Curiously Bruce hops up into the lap of Travis Gray and, immediately, Gray grows incredibly uncomfortable. Bruce is quick to hug Travis and, to his credit, Travis plays along as "It's Raining Men" dies down. Finally. The fans eat it up as they laugh hysterically at Gray's newfound situation.)
HS: "You poor, poor bastard, Travis."
FJ: "What? You jealous, Summers? I'm sure I can arrange to have you and Bruce get together, maybe a nice wiener-in-butt bonding for you love birds?!"
HS: "Gross, Frank."
(Suddenly, "BOOF, BITCH" by Onslaught hits over the PA system and the man himself struts out from the back with the widest smile glued across his face! ONSLAUGHT! Dressed in a purple suede Tuxedo, a white undershirt and black tie…the kid looks pretty dope.)
FJ: "I talked to Stevens earlier in the day, he actually had to call in a favor to F-ING PRINCE to have his personal tailor make that Tux."
HS: "I was going to say…very Purple Rain."
(Onslaught slaps some hands on the way down the ramp and hops up the ring stairs, two at a time. He immediately shakes the Reverends hand as he finds his place in the ring. It isn't long that we see the wedding party come out in pairs. First out is Tabitha Rankin, the former Manager of Brian Stevens, arm-in-arm with the younger brother of Brian Stevens, Mr. Chris Stevens. Chris is in a standard black tux, while Tabitha is in a darling jade green dress.)
HS: "Chris looks NOTHING like his brother. Wow."
FJ: "Stevens rocks eyeliner and a gallon of hair dye. I assumed there would be some difference."
HS: "Either way, GREAT to see Tabitha Rankin back on AWA_TV. She looks AMAZING!"
FJ: "Yeah, I've always had a thing for half Asian broads."
(Next out is Jessica Kassle and John Rourke. Both get a very sizable pop as the smile politely and make their way through the aisle.)
FJ: "Ah, the woman of my dreams. The very leggy and busty…Miss Jessica Kassle."
HS: "Arm-in-arm with a man from the ORIGINAL Damage, Incorporated. Former Cruiserweight Champion John Rourke."
FJ: "From what I gathered, John's been living the good life in Owensboro, Kentucky."
HS: "Oh yeah?"
FJ: "Yup. He's traded in the boots for a bar."
(Onslaught grabs a microphone off of the stand in front of him…)
ONSLAUGHT: "YO! St. Paul! You all know who's up next! Get up on your feet for the Champ! Alongside Sarah Hawthorne is MY best man and my best friend! BRIAN FUCKIN' STEVENS!
("Jet Black New Year" by Thursday hits and, without the typical lights, wind and smoke, Stevens emerges from the entrance ramp with the very voluptuous Sarah Hawthorne by his side…a sight we haven't seen in a long while now. Two former lovers, intertwined arm-in-arm. The both walk to the ring smirking. Both are stride-in-stride. Both seem as if they haven't lost a step. Stevens in a standard Tux. Hawthorne in a green dress like every other Bridesmaid.)
FJ: "What an odd, odd pairing. Somewhere, Nathan Hawthorne-Lee is watching this and wanting to vomit."
HS: "What of Henry? That's…kind of…I guess…his girl."
FJ: "Yeah. He did take her back from Stevens 6 months ago, no questions asked. It kinda makes you wonder if things are really done between Stevens and Sarah."
HS: "No kidding."
(Both Brian Stevens and Sarah Hawthorne step up the steps and separate to their side of the alter. Both shoot each other a smile before doing so. Hmmm.)
REVEREND: "Ladies and Gentlemen…here comes the Bride!"
(The fans all get up and applaud as does the entire AWA Roster. Travis Gray tries getting Curiously Bruce off of him to stand, but Bruce latches on to Travis' neck and hugs and won't let go. Gray stands with him dangling from his neck, his face red with irritation. "Xixax" by Nina Hagen hits over the PA system and out flies Cosma Galaktika. Her pink hair is accented with a tiara. Her dress is white and very lovely…odd. She smiles sheepishly as she carries a bouquet of white lilies to the ring.)
HS: "This relatively young woman has had a very…trying time in the AWA. She was brought into the company wanting to uphold here late-sister's legacy…"
FJ: "The Queen Bitch."
HS: "The one, the only…Ramona Stone."
FJ: "Rest her soul."
HS: "Debbie Stone watched her sisters grave get defaced and urinated on by Lars Fredrickson. Her hair was butchered by Barbed Wire. She left her 2 kids and her husband to join Low's side and continue her sister's work…and then she was allegedly abducted by a UFO and then the world was introduced to this. Cosma Galaktika."
FJ: "How would you like to be her husband, who I'm sure is watching this at home…or one of her two kids in the front row seeing this. Just…yikes."
(Cosma places the flowers in her mouth and falls down on all fours. Like a cat, she crawls up the ring stairs as sexily as possible. Sarah Hawthorne power walks over to her, grabs the bouquet out of Cosma's mouth and helps her to her feet. Sarah keeps the bouquet as Cosma takes her place beside Onslaught at the alter.)
REVEREND: "Ladies and Gentlemen, before we get on to the actual wedding, Onslaught has a gift he'd like to present to all of you AND his wife-to-be, Cosma."
(Onslaught grabs the microphone off of the Mic Stand once again and smiles lovingly at Cosma.)
ONSLAUGHT: "Honey…I just wanna tell you that you make my heart go BOOF and, I wrote this rhyme just for you, baby-girl. Spin that shit, DJ."
(A well-produced series of hooks and beats overtakes the Xcel Energy Center and the lights around the ring darken. A spotlight overtakes the ring and Onslaught grins.)
ONSLAUGHT: "YO, BITCH! This is the sound of love, baby! This is the song to kill all the maybe's! I love you with all my heart, lady. Even if the sex we have is super shady. We've done it in a car, a boat and a plane. Before we both die? We gonna do it in a train. With whips and chains, outside in the freezing rain. Our love's like BOOF, bitch! You can't turn this off, baby, 'cause there ain't no switch! It's like BOOF, bitch! Your that scratch I can't itch and now we gettin' hitched!"
(BOOOOSH! A huge blast of pyro shoots off from the ringposts as Onslaught panders to the crowd. A loud "BOOF!" chant breaks out and even Stevens chuckles at the nonsense.)
ONSLAUGHT: "I…was gonna write another verse but I thought this shit was already gettin' long."
(Cosma smiles lovingly.)
REVEREND: "Today, we gather here to witness the union of Cosma Galaktika and Ben Ottoson. These two people are about to give themselves to one another and forever become one in the eyes of the Lord, our Father. Both have written their own special vows to one another, so before we get to that, I would like to take a moment to ask our invited guests a chance to voice WHY these two people should not be engaged in wedlock. Speak now or forever hold your peace."
(Nothing. Everyone just sits in their chairs…until finally Curiously Bruce the Gay Midget runs up the stairs and hugs Onslaught tightly. And…in the process, Bruce has buried his face straight into the crotch of Onslaught. Onslaught tries shaking the little guy, but he has a Kung Fu Grip. He won't let go for the life of him. Finally, AWA President Travis Gray marches up the stairs, grabs Bruce by the ear and leads him down the stairs and all the way out of the wedding. We see random wrestlers chuckle at the scene and Onslaught looks a little annoyed.)
REVEREND: "I'll ask again. Does ANYONE know why these two people should not be engaged in Holy Matrimony?"
(Silence.)
REVEREND: "REALLY!?!"
(Now confusion sets in.)
REVEREND: "No one has anything?"
(A whole bunch of people start standing up from their seats. They are trying to assess the situation.)
REVEREND: "Well…fine, goddamn it. I guess I'll be the one."
HS: "Did…the Reverend just blaspheme?"
FJ: "Yeah. All the cool kids are doing it."
REVEREND: "Debbie…just tell him."
(Cosma grabs the microphone from it's stand in front of her.)
COSMA GALAKTIKA (in a deep raspy voice): "What arrre you talking about? Who the hell arrre you?"
REVEREND: "WHAT?! You don't recognize me?"
COSMA (in a child's voice): "NO!"
(The Reverend shakes his head as he peels off his mustache…)
REVEREND: "I'm your EX HUSBAND, you fucking lunatic! CHRIST ALL MIGHTY!"
ONSLAUGHT: "That…was a pretty convincing mustache, bro."
(Cosma is in shock. She can't believe her eyes. All her plans. All her scheming. All her hopes…they could all be killed in this one moment.)
MR. KOWALCZYK: "Ben…I really hate being the one to tell you this, but I don't want to see you get hurt. Debbie…Cosma…she's pregnant, Ben."
(Onslaught's face freezes up.)
MR. KOWALCZYK: "She's about 8 weeks pregnant. I know because I got a call from her Doctor, an old friend of mine. The kid isn't yours, Ben. In truth? She doesn't have a clue who's child she's having."
(Onslaught just looks confused. He stares over at Cosma…slowly…and shakes his head, as if to say 'no' animatedly. Finally, the big man storms out of the ring and Cosma starts violently shrieking. It's not long before everyone starts filing out of the ring and the ringside area.)
HS: "So…the wedding is off?"
FJ: "Looks that way."
HS: "And Cosma Galaktika is pregnant with a baby that's NOT Onslaught's!"
FJ: "OH! We've got an illegitimate child angle! AWESOME!!!"
HS: "Something tells me this is gonna get worse before it get's better. Anyway, ladies and gentlemen, up next is the no-ropes Barbed Wire Match between The Legendary Low and his former apprentice, Logan Alexander. Logan said that the United States title is more of an afterthought tonight, and with the history between those two, he is probably right."
FJ: "Right, because Logan realizes this may be the end of HIS career, not Low's, as he has promised in recent interviews. But we all know Logan's track record when it comes to promises."
HS: "Logan almost beat Low for the World title last November, and Low has claimed he was so impressed with Logan that he wanted to guide him to the World title after losing it himself. Their relationship turned sour and just before Classic, Low claimed everything he did with, for and to Logan was part of an elbaorate scheme to derail Logan's career. Tonight, the two will likely battle for the last time."
FJ: "And the big question is – will Low appear tonight, as he hasn't been seen since Logan viciously attacked him three weeks ago."
("Last Resort" by Papa Roach starts to play throughout the arena and the fans cheer as Logan walks out from the entryway. He walks without looking towards the crowd as he makes his way down the entrance ramp to the ring. Once at ringside he climbs the ring steps and enters the ring between the top and middle ropes. He paces around the ring briefly before settling back into one of the corners of the ring, awaiting his opponent.)
HS: "Logan is all business tonight here at Overpower. He wants to end this and end this now and doesn't want to play any games."
("My Idea Of Fun" by The Stooges begins to play and the crowd erupts into boos. Everybody is looking towards the entrance, especially Logan, but no one comes out.)
HS: "Where is he, where is the United States Champion, where is The Legendary Low? Did Logan already end his career?"
(Just as Herb says that line, we see Low for the first time in three weeks as he hops over the guardrail and slides into the ring, but Logan senses him, turns around and Low stops dead in his tracks. The two lock eyes and we have a staredown. The crowd is electric.)
FJ: "He's here! Low is here! There is exactly one man that can end Low's career, and it is the man himself!"
HS: "But look at that scar he has on his forehead, still relatively fresh. This is another scar Low can show future opponents and tell them the story of how Logan Alexander added this scar to his forehead."
(Both Logan and Low are wearing their usual wrestling gear, the only difference being that Logan is wearing black gloves that are cut off at the fingers, while Low has heavily taped his hands and wrists.)
HS: "Low is the US Champion for the third time, having beaten A.C. Smith in July. Logan holds the record, having won four US titles throughout his career. Tonight he has the chance to expand that record."
FJ: "And one thing to note, Herb: as usual, and contrary to what Logan claimed, Low is here by himself, on his own, no army to assist him."
(The referee – who is wearing a long-sleeve referee shirt and thick gloves - calls for the bell and Low and Logan still stare at each other. The crowd is at a fever pitch here, excited at the prospect of another Low-Logan match. Logan starts moving now, half-circling Low, but Low just stoically stares at Logan. Finally Low starts moving as well and the two now circle each other.)
HS: "This is a dangerous match and neither man wants to make an early mistake."
FJ: "Low last was in such a match at No More Drama 2006, battling Lars Fredrickson to a no-contest – Lars' last match in the AWA."
(The two are still circling each other when suddenly Logan goes for a quick dropkick to Low's knee, but Low sidesteps him and presses Logan to the mat, applying a blatant choke with both his hands in front of the referee.)
HS: "And this match is underway!"
FJ: "And this match will be the complete opposite of their Classic encounter, where it was all about technical wrestling and fairplay, with the judges admonishing you for every closed fist. In this match, all you want to do is survive."
(Low pulls Logan up and connects with a right fist, then a second one and a third one. He goes for an Irish whip into the barbed wire, but Logan is able to stop his momentum before going into the wire.)
FJ: "And this was close."
HS: "The key to winning this match is to be the man who gets penetrated less by the sharp barbs and Logan just showed us the way to do it."
(The two men are circling each other again, but Logan is the first one to take action again, connecting with a kick to Logan's stomach, then going for an Irish whip himself, but Low drops to the mat and slides under the bottom strand of barbed wire and out of the ring. Low is quickly sliding back into the ring, but Logan greets him with a series of stomps to the head, then pulls Low over with a side headlock takeover, then holds on to the side headlock.)
FJ: "And Low is equally as smart as Logan. Well, actually he's MUCH smarter."
(Low manages to get back up and lifts Logan up and connects with a belly-to-back suplex, thus forcing Logan to release the headlock. Logan holds his neck after a nasty landing, and Low wastes no time to capitalize on it. He pulls Logan up and connects with an Implant DDT.)
HS: "And the feeling-out process is apparently over."
(Low covers, but only gets a count of two. Low now pulls the tanktop Logan is wearing off his upperbody. Low pulls Logan up and hits a series of forearms to his former apprentice's head, then hooks his head, lifts him up and nails him with a brainbuster, further working over the head and neck of the challenger. Low now drags Logan towards the barbed wire and tries to rub his face into it, but Logan holds on to the wire – between the barbs – and Low is unable to follow through on his plan. Logan elbows his way out of Low's grip and gets back up. He follows up with a series of punches to Low's head, then hooks his head, going for a snap suplex. Low, however, hooks his leg around Logan's and lifts him up himself. He sends him down with a front suplex – right onto the barbed wire!)
HS: "Oh my god!"
FJ: "Ouch!"
(The crowd is visibly discontent as the camera focuses on Logan's stomach being pierced by the barbs, drawing a little bit of blood.)
HS: "This time Logan had no chance to avoid the barbed wire, as he probably didn't expect being thrown onto it."
FJ: "And look at Low, he's enjoying every second of it."
(Low pushes Logan off the wire, but then immediately picks him and rakes his forehead across the top strand of barbed wire! There is a real commotion in the crowd, but it's neither cheers nor boos, just a general uneasiness as we can see Logan drawing blood.)
FJ: "Haha, Logan's forehead is starting to look like raw Hamburger meat."
HS: "And of course you enjoy it."
FJ: "Of course I do."
(Low now goes for another Irish whip and this time he is successful, as Logan lands back-first in the barbed wire on the opposite side of the ring. Again the camera focuses on Logan and we see the barbs piercing through the skin of his back. Little driplets of blood are all over Logan's back, but Low immediately follows up by doing a snap suplex of his own – onto the barbed wire.)
HS: "My goodness."
FJ: "And this time Logan didn't get stuck, but there are several long rakes from the barbed wire up and down his back. Hamburger meat!"
(Logan is a bloody mess by now, but Low shows no mercy on him as he Irish whips him into the ropes again, further hurting Logan's already bloody back. Low now nails Logan with a right fist, a second one, a third one, a fourth one, then knocks him down with a knife edge chop across the chest that draws a "Woooo" from the crowd. Logan is back up and Low continues just beating on him, with one right fist after another to the challenger's head. He then goes for yet another Irish whip, but this time Logan is able to reverse it and Low is the one landing in the wire as the crowd cheers this development.)
FJ: "Oh no, now the barbed wire is penetrating the back of The Greatest Sports Legend Alive."
HS: "And of course you don't enjoy it."
FJ: "Of course not."
(As Low sinks down to his knees, Logan quickly slides out of the ring and grabs a steel chair. He goes back into the ring and hits Low over the back with the chair. Low crawls towards the center of the ring, trying to get away from the wire, but Logan hits him with the chair again, and for a third time. A soccer kick to the side of Low's head rolls him halfway around and Logan pushes him towards the bottom strand of barbed wire, exacting revenge by rubbing Low's face over the barbed wire.)
HS: "Ew, look at the gusher on Low's forehead."
FJ: "The wounds Logan inflicted on Low three weeks ago haven't fully healed yet, so it is no wonder that Low's forehead is bleeding like a stuck pig."
(Logan continues to work over Low's face by just pressing him into the wire some more with his own knee. Logan then takes a few steps back and connects with a dropkick into Low's back, forcefully pushing his face and chest into wire once more. Logan tries to capitalize by going for a cover, but he only gets a count of two.)
HS: "And Low's chest is bleeding now as well."
FJ: "He better save those delicious nipples."
HS: "Wha- WHAT!?!?"
(Logan now waits for Low to get back to his feet. As Low does, Logan charges him and goes for a spear, but Low sidesteps him and gives him a little extra push and Logan lands face-first in the barbed wire. Logan lets out a terrifying scream of pain and as the camera focuses on his face we can see that a barb has cut his cheek open and has stopped short of piercing through Logan's right eye.)
HS: "This is just gruesome."
FJ: "Yeah, even I begin to agree with you, Herb."
HS: "As do the fans, it seems, because all we hear are lots of murmurs. But this crowd is past cheering and booing."
(Both men are down, not moving for a few moments, but Low is the first one to stir. We can see that Logan's bicep is cut open as well from the missed spear. Low is the first man up to his feet, but Logan is on all fours as well. Low changes that situation by connecting with a quick series of Kawada kicks to the side of Logan's head, sending his fellow Toronto native back to the mat. Low uses the opportunity to slide out of the ring to get a second chair. Back in the ring he unfolds both chairs and stands them up opposite each other. He then pulls Logan up and almost breaks his neck as he hits a half-nelson suplex onto the the chairs.)
FJ: "Low just flattened the chairs!"
HS: "This was another nasty landing Logan took on his neck."
(Low rolls Logan onto his back to cover him, but Logan suddenly gets to his feet and EXPLODES on Low with a series of punches. Low, however, nails an elbow right to the open gash underneath Logan's eyes that ends this brief resurgence of Logan Alexander.)
FJ: "What's gotten into Logan there?"
HS: "Probably a rush of adrenaline, but Low knew exactly where to hit to end it."
(Low takes a few steps back to catch his breath and wipe some blood from his eyes, but Logan suddenly jumps up again and charges Low, but Low tackles Logan to the mat and starts throwing forearms to his forehead.)
FJ: "Ground & Pound!"
HS: "That's how Low beat Brian Stevens into unconsciousness at last year's Last Man Standing."
(After about fourteen forearms, Logan manages to slip out from under Low and rolls out of the ring. Low, though, is quick to follow him and the two engage in a fistfight in front of the front row fans, wildly exchanging lefts and rights. Low manages to get the upperhand and just punches away at Logan, before raking Logan's head across the bottom strand of barbed wire once more. Low rolls Logan back into the ring and then lifts the ring apron and reaches underneath the ring.)
HS: "What is he doing there?"
FJ: "He's looking for something. It looks like he found it!"
(Low holds up his hand and we can see that he holds a wire cutter in it. He slides back into the ring and tries to hit Logan with the wire cutter, but Logan is able to kick Low's right hand and he is forced to drop the wire cutter. Logan charges Low, but he counters with a spinebuster. Low holds on to Logan's feet and goes to apply the Low Profile, but Logan is able to push Low off with the strength of his legs and Low lands back- and neck-first in the barbed wire.)
FJ: "That was a terrible fall."
HS: "Look, some of Low's hair is straddled in the wire!"
(And indeed, some orange locks are caught in the wire. Low screams "My hair! My hair!" and the referee doesn't know what to do. Low is in real agony here and we can hear him scream "Cut it off!". The referee makes a motion towards the back that someone should bring him scissors, but there is no need for them anymore as Logan just grabs Low's legs and pulls him off the wire.)
FJ: "He's scalped him!"
(The crowd looks on in stunned silence as Low is screaming in pain as he's never screamed in pain before. The camera focuses on quite some orange hair hanging in the wire and then cuts to blood running down the back of Low's head. As the referee tends to Low, Logan picks up the wire cutter and cuts off quite a bit of the wire to where there almost is no wire anymore on one side of the ring. He then walks over to Low and proceeds to whip him with the wire, starting on his back, but as Low rolls around in agony, he gives Logan the chance to work over his entire body.)
HS: "One side of the ring now almost doesn't have any barbed wire anymore – and it is the side that we face here at our announce table."
FJ: "And I don't feel very comfortable with that."
HS: "Neither do I."
(There seems to be a method to all of this as Logan proceeds to wrap several strands of barbed wire around Low's upperbody. As the barbs pierce the US Champion's skin, we hear more of his agony-filled screams. Logan shows no mercy, however. He pulls Low up and throws him out of the ring on the wire-less side, sending Low crashing into the side of the announce table. Logan follows Low to the outside and puts him onto the announce table, as we see Herb and Frank getting up from their chairs and taking several steps back.)
HS: "Look at how blood-smeared our table is now."
(But Logan doesn't stop there as he puts Low onto the announce table and then climbs back into the ring. He then jumps off the apron and connects with the L.A. Air guillotine legdrop, sending himself and Low crashing through the table. The crowd responds with a "Holy shit!" chant.)
HS: "This is just barbaric. Logan must have hurt his own leg doing that L.A. Air on Low's wrapped-in-barbed-wire upperbody, but it doesn't seem to bother him anymore at this point."
(The referee tells the two men to take it back into the ring, but it is doubtful they can even hear him right now, much less listen to him. Logan is the first man to stand and he pulls Low up and gets him back into the ring. Still ignoring the barbed wire wrapped around Low's body, Logan covers, but only gets a count of two. Logan grabs a small strand of barbed wire and wraps it around his gloved hand. He then pulls Low up to his knees, ready to work over his face some more, when Low suddenly counters with a nasty low blow that sends Logan back down to the mat.)
HS: "Low has bought himself some time here."
FJ: "And it seems like he is going to make the most of it."
(Indeed, Low picks up several strands of barbed wire that are all over the ring. He puts quite a bit of it in the middle of the ring. Then he walks over to Logan and wraps his body in barbed wire as well.)
HS: "Look at this carnage – barbed wire surrounding the ring, in the middle of the ring, around Low and around Logan."
(Low now picks Logan up and then nails him with a Yakuza kick that send Logan onto the barbed wire Low put in the middle of the ring moments earlier. Low then climbs out of the ring as quickly as he can and pulls a ladder out from under the ring.)
HS: "What's he doing with the ladder? This is a Barbed Wire Match, the ladders are under the ring for later on tonight when Brian Stevens faces John Williams."
(Low is about to answer that question as he gets back into the and puts the ladder up. Still wrapped in barbed wire, Low climbs to the top of the ladder as fast as he can at this point. As he's up there, he balances himself.)
FJ: "I think he is going for the Highest Low frog splash, Herb, which is how the legendary Death Match between Low and Mortis Valley at Classic 2002 ended."
(And indeed Low jumps off the top of the ladder with the frog splash, but Logan is able to move at the last split-second! Low lands with a thud on the pile of barbed wire in the center of the ring and then screams in pain as hundreds of barbs penetrate his body. Logan uses his last ounce of strength and turns Low over and we can see that the wire wrapped around his body and the wire in the middle of the ring have intertwined. Some barbs are dangerously close to Low's throat. Logan adds even more barbed wire and more pressure to this scenario as he covers Low and gets one... two... three!)
HS: "Logan has won! He is the five-time United States Champion!"
FJ: "But at what cost?"
HS: "They both paid a price, but Logan Alexander has won the final battle against his former mentor, The Legendary Low."
(The referee manages to get Logan off of Low. Several officials come down to ringside and start cutting the barbed wire to free both Logan and Low.)
HS: "The officials really need to be careful here not to hurt either man even more. Look at those bloody messes."
FJ: "Yeah, and the crowd just seems to be stunned."
(The officials manage to free both Logan and Low from the wire and the two men are greeted by a standing ovation from the crowd. Several officials help Low out of the ring. He turns around as he reaches the middle of the ramp, just in time to see Logan Alexander raising the US title belt into the air to a huge chorus of cheers. Leaning on the referee, Logan then exits the ring as well.)
(COMMERCIAL BREAK.)
(The arena falls dark and as the lights fall so does nearly every audible sound in the building that is until "Freebird" breaks the silence and the big screen comes to life with the scene of John Williams making his way through the backstage area. He has a huge entourage with him including training partners and event security. As Williams walks the aisles of the Xcel Energy Center he keeps a very calm, very aggressive, and very determined look on his face.)
HS: "Williams looks pumped here Frank, that look in his eye, he has nasty plans for Brian Stevens here tonight."
FJ: "Yeah, well by the sounds of this crowd Summers, these people have some of the same thoughts about Williams."
(Williams finally reaches the entrance tunnel and we cut back to the floor where we watch John step out from the back into a bright spotlight. As he enters the arena the crowd jeers him, showing obvious support for their hometown man. However Williams does not seem to even notice the negative response, as his demeanor never changes for even a second. The hood on his TapouT sweatshirt is up covering his head, and he is wearing white Sprawl Shorts that seem to already have blood stains on them.)
HS: "This pro Stevens crowd does not seem to be phasing Williams, he just walks determined through the jeering crowd."
FJ: "He better hope his will is strong, because it is only going to get worse once their boy walks through that curtain."
HS: "I am sure he will have no issue, you don't get this far and let something like that ruin your day."
(Williams reaches the ring and climbs in taking a place in his corner keeping his eyes focused on the corner across from him where in moments his opponent will stand. The lights return to normal and Williams pulls his hoodie off and tosses it out of the ring, and begins to bounce in place as his music fades.)
HS: "folks you best turn down the volume on your TV sets because these folks here might just blow your speakers."
FJ: "The Champ is here Summers and they know it!"
(Slowly and methodically…one by one, every light in the Xcel Energy Center dies out. The fans go absolutely INSANE! Loud, raucous "STEVENS! STEVENS!" chants overtake the darkness until we see a flicker. The lights on the unique Overpower stage set up flicker and only increase the buzz. Finally, "Karsey Street" by Poison the Well begins playing and white lights overtake the arena and pound to the beat of the drum behind the vintage movie quotes.)
"I've seen the horrors...horrors that you've seen. But you have no right to call me a murderer. You have a right to kill me. You have a right to do that...but you have no right to judge me. It's impossible through words…to describe…what is necessary…to those who do not know what horror means. Horror. Horror has a face...and you must make a friend of horror. Horror and moral terror are your friends. If they are not, then they are enemies to be feared. They are truly enemies."
(The Twin Cities AWA Faithful are going nuts as the lone gritty guitar of Thursday's "Jet Black New Year" hit's us like a brick to the head. White lights dance to wildly to the beat. Synthesizers and drums join the guitar as a flood of green flashing lights join into the fray. Suddenly, the song goes into the second intro and the trademark wind machine and smoke machines are blowing wildly.)
HS: "For 196 days, Brian Stevens has been the unstoppable AWA World Heavyweight Champion! For 196 days, Brian Stevens has been defending his crown at virtually every corner of this planet! FINALLY…Brian Stevens is HOME!"
FJ: "Brian Stevens has defended the World Title in 6 Continents. North America. South America. Africa. Australia. Europe AND Asia. The only reason he didn't successfully defend in Antarctica was because they don't have a friggin' arena. This kid has PERSONIFIED what it means to be a World Champion and he's done it HIS way."
HS: "Even though I have a great disdain for Brian Stevens, he has been everything a World Champion could and should be. He hasn't dodged a challenge. He's beaten 99.9 percent of his contenders clean, most through his Front Guillotine Choke submission."
FJ: "And THAT may be his greatest determent tonight. He doesn't have to be pinned OR submitted to lose the World Title. John Williams just needs to climb that Ladder to glory!"
(Finally, the AWA World Champion Brian Stevens makes his entrance through the 'O' tunnel to the sound of pandemonium! The fans go crazy cheering the Hell out of the AWA World Champion as Stevens walks on the stage among the chaotic smoke and wind, which violently whip and breeze past him. Stevens smirks as he displays proudly his old Maroon and Gold Minnesota Golden Gophers jersey with his name and the number "2" on the back. The same replica of the jersey he wore winning the 2002 National Championship in Hockey! After a few seconds on the stage glaring into the ring, Brian Stevens proceeds down the steel ramp way towards the ring. Once at the bottom of the ramp, the Strong Style legend walks the entire outside of the ring, slapping hands and bantering with his hometown people.)
HS: "Stevens, much like Minneapolis last week, is sporting a Replica Jersey of his National Championship Golden Gophers Ice Hockey team."
FJ: "That team and that program is a National Powerhouse. Brian Stevens was one of the handful of kids to re-establish it as such while under the tutelage of Head Coach Don Lucia."
HS: "Stevens is very proud of his roots in Minnesota, his ties to it's University and the standing and pride these people show him."
FJ: "Absolutely."
(Brian Stevens peels off his jersey and hands it to and young kid at ringside before sliding into the ring underneath the bottom rope. Stevens rises to a knee as the lights around the ring darken and flicker wildly as a spotlight falls over Stevens and, if even thought possible, more random white lights flicker to the beat of the music around the ring and in the audience. Stevens continues to kneel center ring, almost in some sort of prayer or ritual and the Twin Cities eats it up. "STEVENS! STEVENS! STEVENS!" is all we hear. Finally, in one awe-inspiring moment, Brian Stevens unstraps the AWA World title from his waist and rises to his feet! Black and Purple streamers FLOOD the ring and the champion beams proudly as he defiantly hoists the World Title over his head as he walks over to the ropes! Stevens stands on the middle rope and hoists the World Title proudly while defiantly bragging and boasting to the crowd. Stevens hits all four sides of the ring before he finally finds his corner and hands the title off to AWA Senior Official Chuck Ford.)
(Ford quickly hangs the belt from the lowered hook and once it is secured he motions for it to be hoisted, and after a moment it is and as it stops Ford checks both men for readiness and upon getting a nod from each he calls for the bell.)
HS: "Here we go…"
(Williams comes flying out of the corner and cuts Stevens off. He throws a right hand that connects and the two begin and violent exchange of shots which Stevens eventually gets the better of when he catches Williams off balance and nails him with a driving knee to the midsection. John double over and as he does Stevens brings his knee up again dropping John with a connection right on the chin. Which he follows up by dropping into mount and raining shots down onto Williams. John tries to cover up blocking many of the harder shots, however the crowd still eats it up. They are electric as Stevens hammers away on Williams. However Williams manages to finally roll to his stomach and reach back grabbing a leg of Stevens forcing the champ to posture up. Williams then quickly rolls back through Stevens legs and as he does latches onto the leg looking for a kneebar, however Stevens is wise to it and just before John can lock it up Brian pulls away and shoots John a smile.)
HS: "Stevens caught Williams, but the ground game John has saved him there, and to boot nearly caught Stevens in a nasty leg lock."
FJ: "I think it was luck Summers, Williams fluked into that position."
HS: "His years of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training says otherwise, it was a text book counter."
(The two men size each other up and come together, however Williams shows that he has no intention of locking up as he quickly locks Stevens into a tight Muay-Thai clinch and delivers a series of knees to the ribs of Stevens that rock the champ. Stevens grimaces and as he does Williams releases and fires forward with a hard elbow that connects with the cheekbone on Stevens left side. Stevens staggers back and Williams moves forward backing Brian into the corner with a series of right hands. Once in the corner John fires three hard chops into the chest of Stevens before shooting him across the ring to the far corner. Stevens hits hard and John is right behind him quickly jumping onto the second rope with his left foot and swinging his left and nailing a violent right roundhouse kick which takes Stevens down and apparently out.)
HS: "My God, he nearly kicked Stevens head off there."
FJ: "Get up Brian…"
(Williams quickly slides out of the ring and heads for the nearest of the four ladders that are set up around the ring. He collapses the ladder and slides it into the ring following it only seconds later. John then sets the ladder up beneath the World Title belt and begins his climb, getting to the second step as the capacity crowd urges Stevens who is trying to pull himself back up, back into the match. Stevens hearing the crowd almost senses what they are telling him and he dives forward grabbing the leg of Williams stopping him mid climb. Williams tries to shake Stevens off, but Brian has a death grip on Williams leg. Finally Stevens is able to muster the strength to pull Williams from the ladder, and as he falls his head connects with the second rung of the ladder and both men are down.)
HS: "We have seen our first ladder attempt, but the ring awareness of Brian Stevens denied Williams the top rung and the title that goes with it."
FJ: "Not to mention he incapacitated him in the process…Come on Brian…This is your chance."
HS: "He seems pretty groggy himself still I don't think he can."
(It takes a moment before Stevens in able to stir, and moments after that he groggily regains his feet. He looks to Williams who is still on the ground and then collapses the ladder and takes it over leaning it in the corner setting the feet on the bottom rope and the rest declining into the ring. Stevens then looks back at his opponent and pulls him to his feet and looks him in a side headlock. Stevens then looks around finally locking his eyes on the ladder and just as the crowd catches on Stevens takes a run Williams still under his arm and he delvers a bulldog which drives the face and skull of Williams right into the steel ladder. However Stevens pays the price as well as his ribs slam into the side of the ladder as well. Williams remains planted motionless on the ladder and Stevens rolls away in pain clutching his side.)
HS: "What a sick move by Stevens there, he might have just taken Williams out of this match."
FJ: "Yeah, but the bad news is he might have taken himself out…COME ON BRIAN!"
HS: "Both men want this, and the high level of intensity shown by both thus far goes to show that."
(Stevens eventually slides out of the ring still ocassionaly grabbing at his ribs that took the hard knees from Williams earlier in the match and now have come crashing down exposed on the ladder. However Stevens troops on as he grabs the second ringside ladder and slides it into the ring. He slowly follows the ladder in and climbs to his feet and as he looks he sees Williams is trying to do the same. Stevens sets up the ladder however and begins to climb, but as he reaches for the belt he realizes that it is out of his reach. He turns to see Williams finally back to his feet, and in a leap Stevens flies off landing a missile drop kick which sends Williams tumbling out of the ring, however as Stevens lands he lands once again on the ribs, and again both men are down.)
HS: "Stevens just put himself on the line there, but might have once again paid the price for it."
FJ: "But he is getting up Summers, look, he will not be denied."
HS: "It looks that way, Williams is still on the outside, and Stevens has pushed that ladder into position."
(Stevens begins to climb the ladder, however his injured ribs stop him from climbing at any speed, however he makes it near the top and reaches, however the belt is a step out of his grasp. The crowd explodes with Stevens this close and they cheer him on. Brian climbs that one more step and reaches up slapping at the belt but having it swing away from him. He shakes off the pain and waits for it to swing back, but as he waits we see John Williams who is now standing atop the giant ladder at ringside. He leaps forward landing on the top rope with his feet and springing into the ring and grabbing Stevens around the neck and pulling him from the ladder in a high impact sleeping neckbreaker.)
HS: "MY GOD WHAT IMPACT!"
FJ: "Where did he come from Summers?"
HS: "At the risk of sounding cliché he came out of nowhere."
FJ: "They are both on their backs again, no one seems to be able to gain much of an advantage here."
(There is no movement from either man and the crowds, even the zealots who have been chanting either 'Stevens' or 'Williams' name grow silent as they try to see if their heroes can muster one last ounce of effort and pull themselves clear of the mat.)
HS: " Holy shit, Overpower '07 has been marked by the blood and seat of two men who have shown why the American Wrestling Alliance is the top franchise in the business today!!"
FJ: "Brian Stevens and John Williams, two of the best brought together in amtch that ends carreers and gives births to legends. I think I am almost cry.. (sniff) .. pardon me ladies and gentlemen."
HS: "So sincere."
(The crowds voice begins to rise again as both Stevens and Williams manage to fight gravity and pain, lifting their battered and bruised bodied from the sweat soaked canvas. Williams grabs at the bottom rung of the ladder and starts trying to jerk it free but it is caught and Williams frustration builds enough that he can bring himself half squatting off the mat and finally pulls it free an falls back from the sudden release; Stevens has moved over to the other ladder and has flipped it onto its narrow edge and is struggling to get to his vertical base. Williams rolls back on to his knees and is so focused on unfolding his ladder he doesn't see Stevens haul himself up and lift his ladder with him; Stevens shifts tac and lifts the whole thing above his head and turns as if giving the ladder an areoplane spin before launching it at Williams. The ladder is half bounces of Williams and he once again knocked back to the mat after taking the brunt of the impact to his shoulder. Stevens moves and pulls the ladder clear and pulls Williams out from the wreckage and up to his feet long enough to serve up a cfouple of Chops, and the crowd is suddenly awake again and whips him to the ropes; on the return Williams is caught and pulled through a Snapmare; Stevens ahs found some life and ruuns for the same ropes that Williams came off of..)
FJ: "Brian Stevens, The champ has found that spark that all champions have.."
HS: "John Williams has no idea where the real world is right now … "
BOTH: "SHIT!!!!"
(Coming off the ropes sprint and leap over his seated opponent and grab the neck, snapping it down in to the ladder. The fans erupt from the moves as Stevens collapses back wards from the impact with a serious gash opened up in hi forehead from where it struck the hard edge of the ladder he was trying to get open.)
HS: "This has to be it. How can Brian Steven not capitalize on this after slamming the face of his challenger into that solid, unyielding steel frame!?"
(Brian Steven rises to the cheers of his fans and holds his balled fist in the air while the other grips the top rope (just to be sure). Turning into the ring he stops and stares up at the belt hanging seductively over the center ring then staggers over the body of John Williams, the smile on Brian's face tells it all; he enjoyed that last one. He steps closer to his ladder and stops. The fans detonate. Up on the Ameritron show a close up of the AWA World Heavyweight Champions face and it is one of sudden, cold disbelief. The shot switches on the massive monitor to his ankle and John Williams hand gripped around his ankle and the chants of 'Icon! Icon! Icon! Icon! Icon!' cannot be denied as the man somehow from somewhere finds the will to pull himself to his hands and knees only to suddenly suffer a hail of closed fists from Brian Stevens; Williams fights through the barrage until he is able to stand nd fire back with a few of his own and the two men get to brawling in the middle of the ring surrounded by warped steel, their own blood and spit and stink; Stevens hooks and arm around Williams' head trying for a Headlock all the while hammering home Forearm Smashes only to have his opponent slip free and try for Kick to his Gut which he catches; Stevens drops an Elbow on to Williams' kneecap but keeping a hold, Williams screams out, spittle bursting from behind his clenched teeth then Steps over into an Enzugiri forcing Stevens to release his leg and take a step to the right; John Williams steps in and rams a Kick to Stevens' Gut and wastes no time in planting him in the canvas via DDT!)
HS: "And just like that this match has turned in favour of the challenger can he get that ladder up and climb to take possession of The AWA World Heavyweight belt!?"
(John Williams pulls up the ladder that Stevens had thrown at him and easily spreads it open, he takes a moment to ensure that the folding cross beams are snapped into the open position but it is obvious that one of the is buckle from the impact when it was thrown. Williams places his first foot on the ladder and the fans cheer; Williams soaks up the emotion and lifts himself clear of the canvas and starts to climb. The pain from all of Brian s Stevens' attention makes each step slow and painful but John Williams's eyes are locked on the belt hanging among the lights above the arena and not on the rising defending champion Brian Williams.)
FJ: "I don't think this over, what a bastard, what a goddamn magnificent bastard. Brian Steven is on that ladder and he is climbing!!"
,p>(Both men climb, Williams is first and he reaches out getting his fingertips to the belt and is rewarded by the cheers from the fans around the venue; it's not enough and Williams pushes himself higher by one more step and reaches out and is denied as Stevens lunges up and slams a punch into his exposed midsection. Williams has to drop to of the ladder and grips it with both hands to stop himself from falling off; Williams grabs a handful of Stevens hair and pulls his face hard into the steel top of the ladder once, the twice then all of sudden it turns to a jackhammer-like rapid pounding off of the ladder that almost unseats both of the wrestlers; satisfied with the blood pouring from the bridge of the champs nose John Williams returns his attention to the belt hanging over the ladder and climbs a couple of more steps to reach it; Stevens sensing that neither of them will be able to get the belt while the share the ladder flips himself over the ladder and catches John pulling him down with a Powerbomb and onto the other another ladder that is still flat on the ring floor!)
HS: "Both men brought down hard!"
FJ: "How does anybody voluntarily do this!?"
FJ: "Their not fighting for their lives are they, what is worth this kind of effort, this pain, this blood this, this, this risk!?
(The American Wrestling Alliance's World Champions belt fill the Ameritron as if in answer.)
HS: "Nuff said."
(It takes something longer than a heartbeat until Stevens suddenly comes out of the effects of the impact only to come face to face with Brian Stevens who has rolled clear and come to his feet; Brian grabs his opponent by his hair puling him on to all fours and then proceeds to repeatedly strike Williams in the face with sets of Kawada Kicks; pulling Williams up and turn him into an Irish Whip, Williams is able to counter the rather lame effort and turns it on Stevens who is in turn thrown to the ropes only to leap and come back into Williams with Stiff Springboard Kick to the side of his head; Stevens pulls Williams up again and this time he keeps control of the Whip and on the rebound he has stepped back a few steps the bends, catches the charging Williams the shoulder hoists him up and over the top rope and out of the ring to the mats by ringside. For a moment it suddenly gets less than [professional as Stevens rolls out of the ring and comes down face to face with Williams and starts shouting into his face; obviously he's not making himself heard so Stevens pulls him up again and twist in a Wristlock before whipping him face first into the turnbuckle, as he rebounds Stevens catches him and locks the wrist again before whipping him along to the steel steps shoving his weight down on the shoulder weakened by the ladder he threw earlier and making sure Williams strikes it into the steel steps first; Stevens goes under the apron and pulls free a table and takes a moment to catch breath then unfold the table up next to the ring; returning his attention to John Williams he brings him back to a vertical base then drives home a Headbutt just to .. well no real reason at all, really.)
(The pain and the pressure continue from the champ as he cooks up another set of Chops on the chest of John Williams; Williams tries to fight back but his blows are easily blocked, suddenly from out of the weak sets of haymakers from Williams the Champ finds himself being tied then grappled by the challenger who erupts into life and ties him into Muay –Taih Clinch where his face is slammed by knee after rising knee from Williams, Brian breaks free and snakes out with an Ezugiri, Williams ducks and shoulder blocks Steven driving him away from the ring and down to the mat where he opens up some Ground n'pound on the champ all to the amusement and elation of the fans nearby; Stevens rams his kne into the spine of Williams whose spine must be about to break from earlier punishment alone; Williams rises and stomps on Steven who rolls clear of most of his effort but is caught as he rise into a Cradle Piledriver straight to the ramp; pulling Steven back down towards the ring he gathers up the champ just shy of the mats, stops just to feed the crowd a little 'pause for effect' then drops the 'LIGHTS OUT' on Brian Stevens!)
FJ: "I'm not going to call this anymore; first it Stevens then it's Williams, then it Williams reaching for the belt then its Steven punishing Williams for every bad thing back to when his mom refused to breast feed him, then it is Williams again with this, this LIGHTS OUT shot, maybe I just took to much Adderall this morning and I coming off it!!"
HS: "Umm, yeeesssss…… Williams is back on his feet and he is getting another ladder, that thing is almost seven meters high, that's twenty feet in real money and it is just an example of what this match is all about. It aint necessary but the men ion this match are will to use it!"
(Williams goes back to Stevens and pulls him up from the floor and sets him on the ringside table. Williams then climbs to the top of the huge ladder and delivers a flipping legdrop onto Stevens through the table!)
FJ: "Just like that, I mean suddenly a man is driven into the dirt with the ferocity and malice of years of pent up hatred and it is only an example, a single shot in a battle that I honestly cannot call at this time, aaaarrrrrgggghhh!!!"
(AWA cameras close in the two men who lie tangled up in each others limb; a smear of blood is caked down the right hand side of Williams' face from just above his temple extending into his hair. Stevens looks just as bad with multiple mini gashes across his side with splinters poking out of his flesh and bruising already welling up across his abdomen and ribcage from the legdrop.)
HS: "And still nobody is going to call and end to this match!?"
HS: "Neither John or Brian are moving can we seriously call this a competition now, after that flipping Leg drop from the top of a twenty foot ladder, the impact driving both men through that table into the concrete below, so let us not kid ourselves about the cosmetic effect of those mats at ringside they offer no protection from this sort of suicidal move!!"
FJ: "I don't believe they are moving, they are both still conscious. Incredible!"
HS: "Stevens and Williams are basically starting over again after that legdrop, the board has been wiped clean but it has got to be sudden death from here on in. How could either of them have anything left to soak up the kind of damage they have both endure here tonight and be able to fight on!?"
(Williams goes back for the ladder and snaps it shut trying to drop it on Steven who ducks but the ladder bounces off the top rope and leans the like a ramp; Stevens come out from behind the ladder to square off against Williams, ducks a blow from the challenger and answers with a High Angle Belly-to Belly Suplex that nearly stalls and collapses from the champs fatigue but the impact is still hard on Williams who arches away from the floor like it was red hot; Steven gets up and pulls Williams up with him and combos a Knife Edge Chop to a Forearm Smash finishing with a Palm Strike before leaving Williams crumpled against the side of the ring. Brian Stevens turns his attention to the massive ladder.)
FJ: "Merciful release at last. Somebody with some sense in this fight looking for a way out, Brian Stevens has taken the momentum from beating down his challenger and is shoving that ladder into the ring, there will be no chance overbalancing with that thing for sure!"
(Indeed, that is what Brian Stevens does. It takes some effort from the wounded champ and he has to stop for moment to wipe the blood that has trickled into his eye but he is soon inside the ring setting up the largest ladder in the match; he take a moment to square it up with belt.)
(The Suplex obviously was not as effective as it could have been as Williams shows by entering the ring charging into Brian with a Running Shoulder Tackle, both men hit the mat hard then rollaway and rise; Stevens strike with a Spinning Heel Kick to Johns midsection driving him into the ropes; Williams comes back hard into Brian answering with his own pair of Snap Kicks to Brains Head then side; Williams moves in, spins into a Back Elbow that Brian's is barely able to roll with but allows him to dodge Williams second pair of Roundhouse Kicks; Brian's Stevens steps back into the brawl by undercooking one of John Williams' arm Brian takes him in a front face lock before snapping over into a devastating Suplex; leaving Williams on the canvas Brian moves to the ladder and start climbing as best as his pain will let him, but Williams comes to very quickly and sees the champ part of the way and is inspired to get up and get on that ladder too.)
(Williams and Steven face of at the top of the ladder; Williams ducks a swing from Stevens and reaches out to grab at the Champ who dodges back and barely saves himself from falling but the ladder twitches and both men suddenly freeze, staring at each other and the long fall as the ladder settles back on to all four legs; It becomes a cat and mouse/chess game of chicken as first Stevens reaches for the AWA title belt but is forced back hard by Williams who swings out with a wild snap kick and again the ladder wobbles first in the direct of Williams' kick then hard back over the canvas as Stevens jerks out of the way; Both men try to counter the motion of the ladder but it over compensate and the alder swings towards the ropes and it is Williams with a maniacal lunge for the belt that brings it back from over the precipice and Brian Stevens that denies the challenger his gold by snatching a hold of Williams' head and twisting him around into a Rear Chin Lock,; Williams reacts out of instinct and tries to thrust a Headbutt back into Stevens and it connects but not with enough force to free but enough to final snap the bloody bridge of the champs nose, and send the ladder twirling on one leg like a spinning top; for what suddenly become and age, each heart beat last three pr seconds the two men some how ride the twister as the ladder raised turns and hooks onto the middle rope and brings the ladder around in a sharp yank pulling out from underneath both champion and challenger and for a second both men seem to hang in the air with wire or support, and .. could it possibly be that they share a glance of realization as the both then fall …..)
FJ: " Oh no (squeaks).
HS: "I'm gone (thud of a suddenly abandoned mic hitting a solid surface).
(John Williams and Brian Steven crash down into the announcers booth with enough force and combined mass to send shrapnel several feet into the crowd who scream in confused reaction to what has just happened right before them all. AWA officials, security and medics suddenly appear checking fans who have taken hits, bleeding and bruised from the pieces of Frank and Herbs table. Amongst the wreckage the two men , Frank and Herb and a number of AWA officials crowd in on the scene and for a while it is not sure what is happening or who is doing what?)
HS: "OH MY! OH MY GOD!"
FJ: "(From Herb's headset - very faint) HERB! MY HEADSET! THE TABLE! THIS IS MADNESS!"
HS: "MADNESS?"
FJ: "THIS IS SPARTA! HAHAHA!"
HS: "You idiot!"
(As the officials and referees try to check on Stevens and Williams, one of the referees pulls out one of the ladders on the ground and puts them in the ring to make that there are now TWO 20 foot ladders in the ring. But that's besides the point. Williams is up to his feet after being down for a few moments. Williams grabs Stevens and pushes the officials out of the way and rolls Stevens into the ring. Stevens is getting to his feet as John has set up one of the ladders. He walks over and kicks Stevens in the head, knocking the World champion to the mat.)
FJ: "I have my headset again! YAY!"
HS: "Brian's setting up another ladder!"
FJ: "John's already on one of the other ones!"
(At this point Williams is on one of the massive twenty foot ladders and Stevens on another and they climb side by side fighting the entire way. Stevens hits Williams with an elbow, John returns the favor, and both stagger but neither falls. They climb until both men have their hand on the belt. Stevens grabs Williams with his free hand and pulls his head down delivering a knee to John's head which sends a mix of sweat and blood flying through the air. Williams staggers heavily and looses his grip on the belt, and with his staggering puts his ladder up onto two legs, and Stevens helps it the rest of the way over. John topples to the outside and crashes into the floor. Stevens however pushes Williams so hard that his ladder falls over as well but Brian not ready to let go is left hanging by his left hand from the World Title. He struggles to pull it loose for a moment, and amazingly Williams is sliding back into the ring.)
HS: "Stevens effort here is like something we have never seen, he will just not let go of that belt."
FJ: "What the hell…Did they glue that thing up there?"
HS: "Look Frank, John Williams is some how, some way getting back into the ring here. How is he doing this, that fall should have incapacitated him."
FJ: "I will tell you how, he is not done trying to kill Stevens."
(Williams gets back into the ring only he is not alone, he has a chair in his hands as he slides groggily in. He looks at Stevens who now has himself and the belt swinging in the air. Williams heads to the corner and climbs the ropes and stands tall on the top turnbuckle the chair still in his hands. He waits and with a timed jump he puts the chair in front of him and catches a swinging Stevens with a chair assisted spear and both men come crashing down in a heap onto a busted ladder below. The crowd explodes at this sickening display and the nasty thud.)
HS: "Both men might be dead right now Frank, they might have actually succeeded in doing what they said they would."
FJ: "But looks Summers, the belt, it is down and laying across Stevens chest!"
HS: "You're right, Stevens has the belt, this one is over, and thank god, before anything else could happen, I just hope it was in time to see to it that both of these men still have their careers."
(The ref sees the belt in Steven's grasp and calls for the bell, and the building explodes as the ref moves over and raises the hand of the unconcious Stevens. Both men lay mid ring broken, and bleeding, the ring shows the signs of this way with the puddles and drops of blood throughout. The crowd is electric and it finally brings Stevens back to reality at least enough for him to use the ropes to pull himself to one knee where he looks at the belt in his left hand and smiles through the mask of blood. He looks over at Williams who is now also trying to pull himself up. However Stevens quickly turns back to the crowd as he pulls himself to his feet and moments later raises the belt high into the air and the building grows still louder. Stevens winces as his body is obviously shot and broken. "Jet Black New Year" begins to play, however it can hardly be heard over the explosive crowd.)
HS: "Stevens has done it, he has once again retained the World Heavyweight Title Frank."
FJ: "He has Summers, but at what cost, both of these men might be out of action for an extended period, broken ribs, fractured this, cracked that, who knows what the extent of the injuries stemming from this all out war might bring."
HS: "Bottom line is both men are likely headed to the hospital not too long after they leave the ring."
FJ: "Hopefully not the same one, or they might continue where they left off."
